Hey guys I posted up a 305 tpi manifold for sale. Guy with screen name mamey contacted me its been a really weird process. Ic now he is banned from the sight. I have all the emails he has sent me. I just got a check in the mail. I said 500$ for intake. I got a bussiness check today from a Atlas copco drilling solution LLC from TX. He says he is in Canada and wife and son has a restoration deal in Alabama. The envelope has Canada post stuff stamped on it. The check has typed on it my name and address along with two thousand nine hundred fifty and 00 on it but in the number part it says 1950.00. IV asked since Wed to talk to someone on phone bout this deal. With no luck. I believe he said his name was Raymond do I try to cash this check is it a scam will I be in trouble if try and cash this does this get them my account number to scam me. Plz help mods .

 

Sounds like a scam, if u cash it at your bank, and it wont clear the bank its written on then they will hold YOU responsible for the bad check. Chances are its a bogus account. Could try calling the company on the check. But if u get the money and its bad, the will want u to pay it back, wherever u cashed it. Be carefull

dont even try to cash it. Rip it up and toss it. Its a scam Should report it to the Authorities, but dont know who exactly?

oddly enough, these people almost always use the name Raymond, or some military title

 

It seems like a scam to me. I did a search on the company it "came from" they are indeed real.

its a scam no dobt about it. you should call that company and tell them about this. i would gues this check is fake so if you cash it it might clear but when the company finds out they paid a random person 2000 they might hold you acct for this, and could even say it was you that printed the fake check. call them and see what they say.

 

Take it to your bank they will tell you if its real or not. If they say it is real, cash and wait the time to see if money clears. Banks are up dated on these checks often. They can pretty much tell you if it real. Just don't send item until it is totally clear.

 

It screams scam.......walk away from it.

i have had a check similar in nature to this ( it was a random check that came in the mail with my name on it and said i won some give away and that $2000 was for me and the other $1000 was for me to send to the second place winner) and i took it to the bank they said they could cash it but i never did, i just turned it in to the states attorny and called thr company on the check to let them know about it.

 

My brother got involved in one of these scams. I knew what was going on before he tried to cash it. He did contact the company whose name was on the check , they were real , the "cheque" was not. If you try to cash it , it might go through but YOU will be held liable after the bank discovers it is a fake and YOU will have to repay the entire balance along with possible penalties and fines. You will be out much more than you got and the scammer gets away with the cash . DO NOT CASH THAT CHECK!!!!!!

 

it is a scam. verify it with a bank and if it makes you feel better, do a police report on it to protect yourself. simple as that.

 

I work in the banking industry and this is without a shadow of a doubt a scam. His odd way of wording his message should have been the first clue. These guys cant seem to put together a normal English message. .... "Yours Interestigly".... c'mon dude.
