I found a great place in San Diego right off of convoy street. I paid 1200 for a black canvas top with the plastic window.

Hey anyone know if there are any updates as to where to get a high quality top with glass window? Someone made mention of a pre-tinted one but the link no longer works...Does anyone make one with a defroster? I could find a defroster switch from a hard top and wire it up to that...
Is topsonline the only place to get a top with glass window?
Thanks!

About how long did it take to install your new top from tops online? Does it have instructions? If you pay someone how much do they usually charge?
Thanks

I'm a brand new member and this is my first post. And I have to say your top and whole car looks great. I have a 92 Z28 convertible that needs to be re glued around the rear where the top meets the trunk side of the car. Any thoughts for a Minneapolis location? Thanks.

Re: Sticky: Where can I get a New Convertible Top?
I seem to have the same issue as others. My convertible top has a couple of wear spots on both sides. I've fixed that, but I can't get the top to remain sealed to the bar on the rear frame. The window is quite yellowed and I think I'm going to replace the top. It's an '89 IROC Z-28 with low miles. It's been garaged, so it's just worn due to age.

Re: Sticky: Where can I get a New Convertible Top?
Mine is a 1989 GTA. Guess its that time of year. I have a 7 year old Robbins in their 'cloth'. The car sits outside mostly, a shame but will fix that soon. Stitching is now coming apart around the plastic window, so its time for another one.
This one has been so bulky it does not fold back into the storage area without dragging on the carpet 'padding' of the storage area on both sides as I fold it and drop it in.
Looking for a solution or changing to a non-Robbins or ?? Need it to look good and seal right with it up... and fit into storage without dragging.
Suggestions/comments/experiences? Seems this sticky isn't getting alot of action.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Sticky: Where can I get a New Convertible Top?
Gerry,
Thanks for the info on Robbins. I'm getting my IROC out of storage this weekend and will be shopping for a new top in a week or two. I'm surprised at the difference between just buying the top and having someone buy and install it for you. I'm trying to figure out which way to go.

I was quick to categorize mine as a Robbins, looks like it might be an "Easy-On". I just had the local upholstery shop that did this one last time order another one with the caveat he has to fix that rubbing. The carpet that is on the vertical 'panel' that surrounds the tonneau compartment is getting replaced with something a little thinner and less abrasive. That will help.
As for the COST!! Yea! $450 for the top, $450 to install it. $200 more than he charged me in 2006.
Unfortunately my GTA has been sitting outside in the driveway without a cover about 80% of the time. I drive it a lot relative to others I guess. Its got 162k miles, and I'm hoping to have a garage for it by the end of this year. My '96 Impala SS has a garage in her future too.
Post back what top you buy and your decision to install yourself or ?? These things should last more than 6 years, the only issue with mine is the stiches have rotted or been destroyed by UV, I'm guessing. The top material is just fine.
I worked in an auto upholstery shop back in the summer of 1970, and we used to pull tops like this off and re-sew stiches. WT???

Mine is garaged. You gave me a lot of information. Like I said before, I'm getting ready to replace mine. I've gone about as far as I can on this one. It has lasted 20+ years but the window has yellowed and it no longer is attached to the bottom rail. All of my home remedies to glue it back on has failed. I'll let you know what I end up with.

Well the Easy-On seems to be a good top, got it all done locally, same shop that did it last time. This time he didn't get the rear bow seal ends reattached to the upright correctly. I had to drill out the pop rivets and put them on correctly. Around here (Norfolk VA) there is seemingly no expertise on these.
He also tried to fix the tonneau cover sealing surfaces, really a long story for me on that one.
Don't want to hijack this thread, but this brings me to a topic for an entirely new thread. "Does your top leak and how did you fix it?"
Every seal and joint has its own unique challenge on these beasts. I have a few figured out, i.e how they are supposed to be. I have been able to get the ones the leak badly to stop.
If there is someone with a bone stock, never molested top... I would sure like to get some pictures of a few seals and joints.

I have not done this, but I would think they are nothing special, Make them yourself... Home Depot maybe... Lon would have to answer this.
