Ways to Save Your Top?

Hey All,

Wondering if anyone has any ways/ideas to help extend the life of a convertible top. I purchased my camaro about 1.5 years ago, and the cars top seemed practicly brand 'spankin' new, but i'm allready get wear spotts near the window corners, and recently lost my rear plastic window (cracked up when dropping the top). Anywho, Any Tips/tricks? Thanks

Keep the car out of the sun as much as possible, i.e. garage, car cover when not in use.
Make sure the top is neat as it folds into the well when putting it down. Don't put the top down when wet. Other then that not much else.

if you have a canvas (stayfast) top, goto a boat supply store and get some of the cleaners ment for their tops (same material).

keeps it clean, some protect it from sunfading, and kills any mold or anything that might start to work into it from when it gets wet.. (wet from both rain and washing it... just because you dont drive it in the rain, doesnt mean it never gets wet)

I agree with the recommendations. UV kills the plastic rear windows, turning it brown and cloudy. I recommend getting an interior car cover from California Car Cover Co. I've used one for about 12 years now. The interior cover has loops that secure in the gap between the tonneau and trunk and straps that loop through the door handles and around the rear view mirrors. It is a snap to install, so you're much more likely to use it than having to hassle with a full car cover. The cover is perfect for those short stops when you'd normally raise the top to go in and shop, etc. It keeps the sun from beating down on the interior and keeps prying eyes out of the car. The fewer times you raise and lower the top the better.

Protecting the back window

I have not tried it but I found this product on another thread here at TGO. The product is "303 Aerospace Protectant." It is my understanding that is was forumlated to protect marine and aircraft windows from the effects of UV. I will be trying it on my top in the near future.

Here is a link: 303 Aerospace Protectant

No pictures on me. I know that a picture of the top was on Classic Industries web site at one time.
