Who has BOTH styles of Sub-Frames on there Vert?
Hey guys,
I already have a set of MAC Subframes on my 91 RS, but I am still not happy with the stiffness of the chasis. Since the 2 different styles mount in different places, I am assuming that you can use both at the same time? Anyone have both? What kinda difference did the 2nd set make? Also, do you think that the subframes made for coupes are better than the ones made for droptops? If so, is it possible to grind the welds on the stock Sub-Frame connectors and weld the aftermarket ones for the coupes in there place?
Thanks in Advance,
Mark B

Don't have 'em both yet, but I'm planning it in the near future. The only difference in the coupe and 'vert sfc's (that I've seen) is the length of the piece that triangulates the front of the subframe. It's shorter on a 'vert sfc to compensate for the boxed rail that ASC added when the conversion was done.

Is there a difference in ground clearance with the vert/coupe sfc's? My MAC subframes are low enough as it is... I cant afford to loose any more ground clearance.

I'm planning to get both in the future, I already have the mac and looking at the Spohn style (i assume that's what your talking about).
As for clearance, the spohn in no way interfers with where the mac and alstons mount. Plus because the spohns run alongside the outer frame they don't reduce clearance whatsoever unlike the macs.
I've heard people notice more difference with the spohns then the alston style. Kinda makes sense seeing as how it stiffens the outside of the frame which takes more stress from loads. I'll probably try to do this during the winter and see how it goes.
