Recovering rear panels ?
Hello,
Just wanted to know if any of you guys had ever re-upolstered your rear panels (where the speakers are) mine look like hell, and i dont think it would be that hard to recover them with a little time and patience. If i remeber right those panels are fiberglass so i assume the matirial is glued to the panel? can anybody shed some light ?

Mine were done. I did not do the work, but when I had my interior re-done I had those panels covered in the same material as the seats - Oak Tweed... I am pretty sure all he did was glue the covers on. Using something like a tweed that will flex around the curves made it possible... I suppose even if your interior were not tweed you could use that type of cloth in an appropriate color...

Mine are going to be recovered in the next month or so with black vinyl. Should go well with the black leather seats waiting to go in.

I had mine re-covered last year. I called around until I found a shop that had the same exact material (color/texture) as the original. Cost about $200.I also recovered my speaker covers at that time )bought that material from Joann Fabrics and used a glue gun. Also, since I had the panels off, I applied dynamat to the painted metal behind it. I know, way more information than you wanted.

I was of the mind headliners are $200, or thereabouts, that's a nice chunk of change for a small area! I removed the speakers I had there, but sadly the nice JBL covers are round and the originals square, so they don't replace w/o dealing with a new covering. Mine are still original appearence, as GM puts it, the seats are in Ripple cloth as standard and doors and carpet match the gray cloth, not real sure on the material names.
