91 RS vert @ junkyard

Hey guys, I saw my first vert in the junkyard today. Its a teal 91 RS, looked like it was pretty nice before it wrecked . Do any of you guys need parts? I would think parts for convertibles would be kinda hard to get. What are some things I should look for?

See if any of the black plastic trim near where the windsheild & convertible top meet is still good. I could probably take those if they are good.

Strip everything off of that car that is convertible specific, you will find a buyer eventually...

Your best bet is to try and buy the complete car as is. I bought my 91rs vert just the same way for $500

and used all the parts to do my conversion on my Z.

Typically I save Camaro posts for a last glance, but it sounds like the SAME part I need, dude! I'm in bad shape from a rear hit that I am looking for help with. I am in the hopes it could be bent (the hinge) back in shape to allow the trunk lid to not be a problem, if the hinge is related to the tonneau then it's likely not a problem for me. I'd say grab all those parts, I agree with the above assessment though it's likely to cost the guy gettin' 'em

Thinking I jumped the gun on that thought, the pic turned out pretty big too, sorry about that, but it was under the 100k
Anyway, sounds like the part in question there is the raising assembly for the roof's support structure (4th and 5th bow area) as shown in the 8 hour install thread link.

No im not looking for the hinges for the tonneau itself, this hinge is for the rear of the top, near the bottom , it allows the rear top to fold forward after it's pulled from the tonneau release, and then you could pop the tonneau and fold the entire top into it's compartment...... there are two of them i just need the passenger side one, i was hoping you could get that for me..... I Will now make you leader of the free world if you can get that for me

Thanks !

Someone parting a blue Camaro, at least a year ago was going to get the hatch part for me, I was HOPING. He stopped contact, and I hate people who do that as they usually burn me for some bucks... I think people ccan relate
Anyway, the shortened decklid is certainly also a part to consider, and rear qtr panels, if you can cut 'em!

rear qtr panels arnt worth anything special... they're identical to the coupes... the only thing on the rear quarterpanels thats worth money is the "cap" that goes over the cut mart.... you know, the little piece that goes from the door/B-pillar area and back along the fender to make up the "ends" of the spoiler...

Even those aren't necessarily worth a whole lot, I have 3 sets of them sitting in my garage and I occasionally see them on e-bay going for around $50 or less for the pair.

I admit they need to be in good shape, but I see it as a challenge for me, anyway, I want to integrate with the old spoiler, I think is still good
The Firebird does differ again, so we need some pics to get a good idea of what's still viable
I've had an age old problem of gas leaking when I fill the tank, initially leaving a tough stain, but giving way to rust in that area. I'll be scouring the Bodywork section later as I dive into resto of the body, right now, work is not changing and I have a minimum of funds, just not enough to do anything with other then live
ugh!

IF you don't do anything else you need to at least work on killing the rust!

Hi,

I'm looking for the black plastic trim that goes along the front of the convertible top if its any good as mine is cracked. Also front passenger fender as I think they are different to the standard fender.

Thanks,

Alex

Alex,
The fender is the same as stock. Your body shop can trim the stock fender down to fit. If I remember right the difference is because the frame stiffening added by ASC moved the attachment point outboard... At any rate, you don't have to get a vert specific part a standard fender can be made to fit. That is, after all, what ASC did to begin with!

The money for major body stuff is not around. We are in a bad work state right now, I'm in home construction, and it's real bad right now, less then 40 hours a week!
I'm looking at a donor car option as well as parts via eBay. The car has gone for several years with no investment, and I know it's time, but I plan to stick it out and do what I can. The top was a delayed project for about 3 years (that I can recall) but aside from the window crack (2 years time it cracked due to snow/ice chipping) it has done better then expected sealing out the elements. The car really moves out and other then my leaking gasket, possible engine reworking (considering dropping a better 350 in)... it doesn't appear anywhere near death yet
