Price For 89 Gta Vert??

Hey all, I have owned my 92 firebird vert. for a couple of years, and I am happy with it, but I recently came across an extremely rare 89 gta vert., in my neighborhood. So, I am considering a second bird. The car is in clean shape, but does need some cosmetic resto. The body is clean with one small dent, needs a new top, and the interior needs some work. Has 113000 miles on it, and the motor sounds very good. The only thing that really bothers me is the fact that the tranny is leaking fluid, and there is a slight delay in the shifting. Owner says he believes the seals are leaking and need repacing. This is an original unmolested 89GTA vert., from the original owner. It has not been advertised yet anywhere. We met when he approached me about my bird about 4 months ago. I can get this car for $2800, maby a little less. Does this sound like a fair price.

I just paid $4,000 for my hunk of crap 91 rs convertible, pretty much the same condition that one seems to be in besides the tranny. I unconvered some frame damage when i tore mine apart. I'm hoping to turn my car into a decent part time driver, i dont plan on selling it so i'll do what i have to to make it how i want it, i know i'll never see what i put into it if i ever do sell it.

sounds like a good price to me. go for it

We'd all like to see a photo, if you have a digi cam, that is to say.
I have a current problem of at least a leaking manifold, so I know how that is. The RWD auto trans should be plentiful on eBay, if you trust that route. I've had fairly good results.

I'm looking for a new trans for my Cadillac on eBay as well as other parts.

I have the 89 brochure for the Trans Am, but also covers the Formula and various models/specs. [aside from unofficial verts ;:~)] These are also on eBay.

Will you do the top yourself? I'm currently looking for glue to use. My buddy, Jeremie seems ready to tackle the job now. We're thinking we can bend the trunk hinges where I work, problem is I don't know how to go about pulling them, as they're tucked away in cramped quarters

Unless it's a rust bucket, beg borrow or steal 2800 bucks and run... do not walk...... over there and buy it before the guy changes his mind or realizes that he can get a LOT more that 2800 for it!

I'm with Kevin D...... if you're not gonna buy it, send me the address and I'll fly down there and buy it!

You can never have enough 3rd gens, especially convertibles! Better to see it in the hands of a true enthusiast, than left to rot, or bought by an opportunist who will paint it bright purple and stick ***** stickers all over it, and use it to house chickens in the driveway!
