Q for Lon about motor housing....
Lon,
I finally started to clean and replace the broken gear nut on my 89 hatch pulldown assembly, and DOH i found out the clear motor housing was cracked, so i need to order a new one, but i wanted to double check on which one i needed, as far as i understood the newer version is the one where the motor "slides" out of the clear motor housing so ill new the new version correct ?
Thanks !

GM discontinued the motor. They replaced it with a new style which attaches to the clear plastic motor housing (that the gearnut drops into) with two screws. It is functionally equivalent to the old style motor housing that had the motor slipping into a slot. If your motor is OK, then just get the TDS 103121. If the motor is toast, then get the new style motor TDS 201170. test the motor by applying +/-12v with test leads to the two terminals where the reversing switch mounts. If the test leads are small enough in diamete you can poke them through two small holes in the reversing switch to get to the hidden terminals.
