(power tops on 3rd gens have been beat to death i know... but this looked really promising to me)

Darn my bad memory, but i remember watching a review for a fairly new sports car on TV. It was a ragtop, and built on the corvette frame (2003 or newer model).

I remember this, because it's top was exactly like the thirdgens, but automatic.

1-Lift back window up,
2- Lift tannue up
3- Drop window and top
4- close tannue

... I've been looking around, and i remember it looked 'somthing like' the Cadilac XLR, but i can't find if it was built on a corvette frame?... And i also can't find a ragtop version (all hard top convertibles).. so i know it's not the one, but it's similar size.

Anyone got any ideas of what i'm talking about? I was thinking of seeing exactly how hard it would be nab and mod the parts to convert to a power top.

ok... fine... make me look like an idiot google...

I've searched for like an hour or so before i posted, and yea, happened the next link i click on explains that the XLR is on a corvette frame and such... lol..

But i'm still not seeing ragtop version... Mabey i'm going crazy?

Quote from HERE
•The top is too slow. An eternal 27 seconds to raise or lower. Mercedes-Benz SL, in contrast, takes 16 seconds. So what if the top's slow, Caddy says; the car's fast. Sure, but it's nice to drop the top on impulse at a stoplight, and 27 seconds means you'll stack up a honking queue at some lights. Any sporty car should feed your impulses, not thwart them.

The power-top mechanism — entertaining to watch, as it seems to be going through the motions of those Transformer toys that switch from dump trucks into robots — also makes the whole car shudder during a couple of its 6 million maneuvers. Shuddering, however moderate or occasional, isn't something you want in your expensive convertible

If you want some insight into how a convertible with a power top that folds as ours would work, take a trip to your nearby Volvo dealership. The C70 convertible has a powered soft top that raises and lowers the same way our manual tops do. Call the dealership to make sure they have one in stock. From what I understand a replacement for the C70 is on the horizon.

edit: Make that, the new model of Volvo convertible (still called the C70) is a folding hard-top design and is already here. You'd need to find an example of the older design which was a folding soft-top.

Thats actually a solid looking vehicle... if you weren't looking for a sports car.

Thanks though, I'll try and find one for salvage some time.
