Hard top?

I live in washington. That sentance says it all. I haven't put my top down for almost a month. Has anyone seen a hardtop made to follow the lines of the vert top? I really like the lines making the thirdgen more coupe-esque. Ideas? Pictures? Back in the 60's my mom had a hard top made for her vert vette and it looked really good.

Ideas on who I should go to, to attempt such a thing?

Along those same lines, would it be detrimental to to run the hard top and have the soft top folded away for a month or so at a time? (besides more weight)

I just put my top up after being down for about a month. It looked fine when I put it up.

Topless in January!

South Georgia.

I was topless four days this week. It rained on friday. Supposed to be in the upper 60' tomorrow and 77 on Monday! Dropping back to the mid 60's for the rest of the week.

This would be considered a hypothetical question, since no one makes such a hard top, nor do I foresee one being made. However IF such a top miraculously became available, whether the folded top would be damaged? I doubt it. It would be no different than running around with the top down all the time which those in the South and West Coast (including myself) are known to do. Sorry for all the bad news. I just thought someone should answer the original question.

Hardtop

This was discussed at length a year or more ago. We had thought that it might be worth approaching someone like Lear tops to see if one could be made.

There would of course have to be a demonstrated strong demand before anyone would even consider designing such a think and since our cars are now getting fairly old I doubt anybody could be convinced to do the job.

You could do a search for hardtops on this thread and find the discussion.

drop top hard top

Hey this is great me and my dad were just discussing how to make one for my vert. We do a lot of work on custom cars and were thinking about either a choping the roof off a hard to and making something that would look simmilar to a notch back, or b finding a wrecked convertible skining the top frame in alluminum adding a back window and bam its done

some of the family rides
camaro and 41 are mine the 27 is for sale and my dads

I'd like to see this done. I dont' like the idea of re-creating the hatchback look or even the notchback. If I wanted one of those I'd sell mine and buy a hardtop. The hardtop cars have significantly wider tops back there. The verts almost get a "shoulder" above the rear quarters that looks so beautiful to me.

I think I may have started that thread 1 year ago.

Not sure, but I saw a removable hardtop for a c4 which looked really nice. I called the company and had no luck. i cant remember exactly but they needed somer interest before they did the r & d on a new top.

I asked them via email how much interest they needed and I never got a reply back.

Someone in that thread did a rendering of what it may have looked like and it was really good looking.

Anyway...let us know if anything positive comes up. Although I think most of the vert owners here (99%) would take that $1500 to $2000 (that a removable top would cost) and probably put it toward resto and upgrades.

At least I know I would

Maybe in a few years the value of these cars go up (and you know they will) there will be more beautification aftermarket parts.

Hell, I dont know about the rest of you but I get offers and compliments all the time.

You are correct Matthew. I remember that thread very well. I was a big part of it I actually emailed several places (custom fiberglass, the company that makes the C4 tops, custom body kit places), none ever responded to my emails. Not even a response! I guess everyone has better things to do. What a shame. Anyway, just about everything that can be said about a hard top for our cars was said here:

Enjoy!

Dude, when I first got the car I drove for two days with it snowing and had the top down. Just made sure to park undercover.

Besides, as long as you're moving the rain rolls right off and you stay dry. You just can't stop.
