In the process of putting wheels on the car tonight(85-87 IROCs). Pulled the steering wheel to remove the ignition cylinder to provide power to the window motors. They actually went up. I figured out how to put up the top and was severely bummed when I found one of the frame knuckles was broke in half. The top is pretty shabby and has no back window. At least the windows are up now and the top is up. I really need to find someone with a frame and spoiler center section.

Speaking of the spoiler, the piece of it that was on the car blew off when the trunk blew open on the way home. The piece then landed on the only good part of the interior. You geussed it the dash pad. It must have hit very hard, now it is smashed on the passenger side. I have another one to put in but it was like a knife in my side. I have a full black interior to put in after paint but the intire car is going to have to be stripped to nothing before that happens.

The engine is siezed up and I can't even turn it with the belt off. No problem I will put a new engine in.

So it looks like I have my work cut out for me guys. I am willing to chop up the 91 RS for space and for some of the parts. I would prefer not to but I can find a 91 RS anyday and you can never find a vert ever.

So when I am done this will be a 92 Z28 TPI 388 STROKER VERT. I will have this done and driving before THIRDGENFEST 06. If anyone can help me with the top frame and possibly a spoiler center section I will make it worth your while.

Thank you for your support guys!

I forgot to add CLONE. I don't want to make anyone mad. This is an 88 305 sport coupe the one that says CAMARO on the rocker GFX. So now you know the plan and can scream if you want to. I will probably scream right along side of you. Tell me what you think!

Kevin... you need to work on the pics thing. We can't really help you if we can't see it.

Just kidding.

OK... it sounds like you might need some parts for the top. Do you know what kind of top it is? Did you reference that this was a sawzall conversion and not ASC?

Anyway, check this link for vert parts. I ran across it recently and there may be some stuff there you can use. Plus, "Dave" who runs thge site is really low maintenance to deal with.

Camaro Convertible parts

If you need the top itself, hardware aside, I recommend this site.

If you can get the list of parts you need I can better help you find them if you would like. I think it's fun. Looks like you are going to have a blast with this.

Ive been lurking in this part of the site for a year now. All of the stuff on this car looks like most of the pics that I find on here. The parts are all broken in the same spots as most of you guys' . I will run the RPO's after I post this and see if it was an ASC conversion. What should I look for on the car as a tell tale sign of what kind of job it was? It all looks factory to me but this is like only the fifth vert I have ever seen in person.

I found the Z08 rpo. So I am leaning toward a factory conversion. Am I wrong?

To verify this car, the sixth digit of the VIN should be a "3" (for convertible).
Many customer owned Camaros were converted to convertibles by ASC, the same company who performed the "factory" conversions. These cars would display a "2" in the VIN (for coupe). Also, these cars were serialized by ASC; the serialization being placed on a plaque on the dash. Although these cars look identical to "factory" convertibles, they are not as collectible as an original.
