89 IROC convertible with 305 TBI
I have an 89 Iroc convertible with the 305 throttle body and 15" wheels. I was thinking of selling it until somebody questioned whether this was a "real" IROC because they said IROC's did not come with the TBI, that all of them were TPI. Well, I have the original window sticker and all the numbers match to the car and according to the VIN it was most definately a factory convertible with the 305 TBI and factory 15" wheels. Two people who are camaro buffs said they have never seen this engine combination. I have done as much research as I can and I know in '89 that only 3940 IROC covertibles were made and that the 305 TBI was actually the base motor for the car and the 305 TPI was an upgrade. My question is, do I possibly have a fairly rare car since it is a factory convertible with a 305 TBI and 15"wheels? The car only has 56K and is in absolute perfect shape. Any one who can help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes your IROC is fairly rare. What is little known is that the base '88 IROC came with the throttle body engine with the 15 inch IROC wheels. Your car is basically an RS with the IROC 'look'.
Many people think all IROC's came loaded with TPI, 16 inch wheels, deluxe interior, and so on but that is not true.

From my original 1989 Brochure (yeah, I was 18 when the '89's came out).
