I found this car locally and the only reason I'm considering it is because it's a 92 Z28 Convertible with factory 5 speed. I would think there had to be fewer than 300 built in 92. (guesstamite) What do you guys think it's worth.

Suspension has been upgraded and I believe it has SLP exhaust.
Car is pretty nice with no rust.

The bad: 212,000 MILES!!!! Had a gm crate motor put in at 160,000. Drivers seat is shot, naturally. Going to look the car over close tonight. He's asking 5,100. 3 owner car. Spent most of it's life in Texas.

I don't think it's worth anymore than 3,500. But I'd hate to see this car end up going to some kid and get abused and then sent to the junk yard.

 

How about getting a picture of the RPO codes and posting them.
Is it a heritage car?

My guess is that it is not worth all that much right now maybe $3500 - $4000.

This is the first vert I've looked at. RPO codes in the center con. or in the trunk?

 

check the corners under the hood to make sure it hasnt been wrecked in it's past. make yourself a list of what needs replaced and find out how much money its going to take and ask yourself if it's worth it. I've made a lot of progress with my vert i bought in 04 and it still seems like i'll never finnish it. going to put it up for sale soon if i don't make more progress on it.

 

That's what I'm struggling with. I've already got one project and I don't think I'm ready for another. Building a 62 Belair Wagon w/full air ride and doing it all up and it's amazing the little things you don't think about that pop up and cost a hundred here and a hundred there and it adds up fast. And I'm not even at a half way point with my 62. A car with 212k I think is just going to be a money pit I'm afraid.

 

I have a 92 convert with 5-speed, I was always interested as to how many produced - it must be low, I have only seen 1 other 91 in person, and there was a 92 5-speed on ebay a little while ago, could even be the same car???

its got a lot of miles and unless you do a complete restore ground up, i dont think its worth what they are asiking. maybe 3000 bucks. depends how bad they want to sell it. just let them know of all the things wrong with it and make it sound worse than it is. you could always buy it now and store it until your ready to work on it.

yeah I still have them all- and 9 parts cars as well and a couple of extremly rare Mopars.

These F- bodies remind me of the Cudas and Challengers (E-bodies) back in the early 1980s, those cars were reasonably priced, there were plenty of donor cars around for parts and even though they were not as plentiful as the F bodies it was fun finding them. I had 440 Six Pack cars and convertibles, and we used to part out 318, 340 and 383 cars.

Now look at what those cars are worth today. I restored 7 Mopar E-bodies back in the 80s and two in the 90s.

I'm glad to see that there are lots of young guys on this site who are restoring and taking care of these third gens. I think they were the best bunch of cars to come out after the Chrysler E-bodies. I had some 2nd gen cars as well, and even though I liked them then, I think the 3rd gens are a better more refined car.


I'm doing the yellow '86 Iroc right now, should be painting it in a couple of weeks. I want to buy a 91-92 Z28 hardtop car next, then a 91-92 GTA- still looking for them with either 5.7 or 5-speeds..

oh yeah, I'm not married anymore either....

 

With that stable of cars, we can see why! (just kidding... as a divorcee myself, I say you made the right decision. )
