1992 Camaro Z28 Convertible - Found and Purchased

I have been looking for a clean 1992 Camaro Z28 Convertible for a few months now and finally found one in nice shape.

Question is: The car is Purple Haze with Tan Interior and Black Top.

Are there any production numbers on total number of convertibles per model per color?

Scott

pm 90RS305, he might be able to help you... there were 1,254 Z28 convertibles made in 1992, and purple haze was not one of the popular colors, blue/white/black were the main ones, probably pretty rare

GM didn't track the color options the cars left with factory with. All we get are the build numbers with engine/drivetrain info.

Sorry.

Post a pic. Would love to see it. I have a Teal green 92 Z/28 'vert with beige top and interior. The beige top really looks neat since few Camaro 'verts had them. Funny they would limit the beige color on the Camaros but not the Firebirds.

Hylton,

Beautiful ride. Teal is very common the the RS' but I rarely see a Z28 in that color. Very nice! I am trying to attach a picture of the one I am picking up.

Thanks Hylton,

This is the first one I have seen. I have seen 2 purple haze z28 hardtops but no convertibles in person or in pictures. Do you remember the interior color on the one you saw?

Incidently Scott, Chevrolet produced 8,588 Camaros in Purple Haze. Unfortunately there is no further breakdown since this consisted of RS coupes, 'verts and Z/28 coupes and 'verts.

You can do a very unofficial stat by dividing 8,588 into the number of Camaros produced in that year and then multiplying that percentage value by the amount of Z/28 'verts built in '92:

8588 / 70007 = 12%

1254 * 0.12 = 150.5

Roughly 150 Purple Haze '92 'vert Z/28's are out there!

hey i didn't even think about trying that calculation to figure that out! interesting! apparently i would have one of SUPPOSEDLY 350 Ultra Blue convertible Z28s

and by the way, i'm really jealous of both of you! i'm LOVING the teal/tan top Z28, and i've never seen a Purple Haze Z28 convertible before. i want one! haha good job to both of you for those sweet rides. not very common at all to have those colors for that specific model!

Let's face it, any 3rd gen 'vert Z/28 is uncommon. Just wait 10 years from now!

for sure. the '91 and '92 Z28 convertibles are by far the sexiest models i've seen in my opinion

both of you need to send me more pictures of your cars. i'm gonna make a collection of these cars when i'm older and can afford more cars

Wow. I know what I'm doing to my 'vert once I get the money. Repaint factory teal and go all Tan. I wonder how hard it is to completely swap out the grey interior for Tan?

Most of the stuff should be easy enough to find at a scrap yard. The hard part will be finding the rear interior pieces in beige. The original material is still available so you can just get yours recovered.
