After 2 Years, I'm back in the Third Gen Vert World!!

Well I had sold my Camaro 2 years ago with over 206,000 miles on it. I hated to do it, but I needed the money and the room and couldn't justify the extra expense of the insurance.

Well now, I have been on the hunt for a Firebird. I was just looking for a Trans Am or GTA to play with. Wasn't even looking for a convertible because I figured they would be out of my price range. Then last week, I started bidding on a Trans Am convertible. It has the 305 TPI, with the 5 Speed. It had 156,400 miles on it. I didn't think I would win, because my budget was pretty low, but it had a rebuilt title, so I was hopeful it would stay low. Well, I ended up winning it.

I live in Columbus. Car was located in Boise, ID. I won it last Friday night. Jumped on a plane Saturday am and drove it home between Saturday afternoon, arriving back in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday morning around 3:45 am, and still making it to work by 8am that morning.

Here are a few pictures of the car at home. Of course, like any e-bay ad, it needs more work than I hoped. It is definately getting a new top this week, and it will need paint. It also likes to consume oil and leak it also. It did survive a 2200 mile trip home though, so I think it passed the test. I still think I did pretty good for $2475 though.

Definately loved the flow of traffic in the Northwest area better than here.

According to the car-fax report, whatever happened to total it happened back at 33,000 miles. It now has 156,000 miles on it. The guy I bought it from told me that the previous owner had run it up on a curb and did damage to the bottom of the car and the front bumper had to be replaced. He said he knew the guy who did the work. At any rate it's mine now.

Awesome! Congrats on the Vert! And, as usual, I'm very jealous of the 5-speed.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay? Sounds like you stole it since you said you have a low budget.

That car doesn't look like it needs too much from the pics, but it will be a fun project no matter what!

What do SFC's do exactly? I just replaced my rear sway bar links and, while I was under my car, decided I might have to get some of these SFC's that everyone is talking about. Do you weld them on or bolt them on? Thanks for any input!

Actually just the 305, but it does have the 5 speed. I do have a L98 in my Vette though. I'd like ot eventually increase the HP in the TA, but that will come with time... and more money

Very nice! That car looks like it will be a lot of fun to fix up. Mine is white too, but I have the chrome Torque Thrust wheels on it.
