Post up-close pics of Alstons welded in

I just got my SFCs welded in, and I'm not impressed. The car is not even as stiff as it was when I got them bolted in originally, which makes me think that the welder didn't do the job right. I looked under the car and the first thing I noticed is that there's not a continuous bead around all the surfaces. So rather than get into an argument w/the welder, I'd rather have some pics of what others' look like when welded in, and use those as an example to take to back there.

Every welder will so it diff. He prob "stitch" welded em in. Im gonna guess about an inch weld. a gap and inch weld a gap. etc...

That should still be good enough. BUT if your not happy with it. Take it back and let him know.

Sorry No pic's here to help you out man. I have Hotchics sfc's

Hopefully he didn't do it with the car hanging on a hoist. Welding them with the car in that position can cause an unatural stance when it's back to sitting on all fours. If the car was on a hoist at the time, it should be the kind that lifts the car while still sitting on all four wheels (the natural way the car's frame and suspension sits while on the ground).

Yes, TPI383, that sounds like what he did. It is not one continuous bead around the mounting points.

Iroctopless, he did the jackstand thing per the TDS instructions. I am just pizzed off because I expected the car to be at least as stiff as it was when they were bolted in originally last year.

Of course, that feeling didn't last very long, but it set my expectation level high because the car went from being squeaky and flaccid-feeling to uber tight and squeak free.

With them welded in, the car feels about 60% as stiff as it was when I first picked it up after having them bolted in, which doesn't make sense to me. So my first assumption was that they didn't weld enough.

He told me when I picked the car up that he didn't weld the SFC mounts solid all the way around--seemed worried about cracks being caused over time in the subframe where the SFC mounts met the subframe. And who am I to argue, lol, I'm just the dumb customer. That's why I asked the forum for pics, to see if others did it the same way, or if not, to have samples to to take to the welder and say "do it like this".

Best I have for now, mine are welded countinuously around the mounting point. The bolts were never used and my welder even welded at the bolt locations.
