My 88 camaro vert.
I've been working on it since April or so and finally got it running now. Hopefully today Ill be able to drive it.
Started out with this from TheWraith
http://www.techcessive.com/vert06/
Fiend and I turned it into this.

Few videos
Idle and rev

The one thing that I want to know is that my car is a 88 (checked the VIN and other stuff to make sure that it is correct) but the car cam with the 87 spoiler. Anyone have any idea as to why? Thanks!

Re: My 88 camaro vert.
I was looking at buying that one when I bought mine. Shipping to me was outrageous.
Looks good!
As for spoiler, it could be an early model and they used leftovers from previous year. Something could have gotten damaged and changed in the past 20 years.

The 87 spoiler was defantly done at ASC, the doors are orignal to the car. But I agree with ya, I do think that they were left overs as well.

Spoiler looks a lot like my '89's.

So I'm not sure what you're referring to?

Re: My 88 camaro vert.
OK. I gotchya. That's that forward side-quarter spoiler assembly extension piece. I was thinking about only the rear deck spoiler assembly.
As far as I know it was only found on the '87's. But who knows, yours might have been early in the '88 production run and still received them. It was in ASC's hands, not Chevy's, during the conversion.
Nice ride by the way!

The sticker was there but was illegable. The main door tag was 1/88 IIRC.

Ahh I know who you are. You did an awesome job on the LT1.
Thanks for the compliments. Maybe one of these days you'll see the car in person.

Re: My 88 camaro vert.
Thanks man, I didnt see this before or I would have responded to it. The color is copper with dodge pearl black stripes. The copper color I got from that show "Trucks" when Stacey David was hosting it. he build a 72 ( I think that was the year) C10 truck and had that color mixed up for him. He was nice enough to post the mix of the color on his web site for all to use. I can't complain for how it turned out, for litterally a back yard paint job.
Well here are a few more vids. I need to get some of it actually moving, tho the power brake booster is shot.

Re: My 88 camaro vert.
I have 2 '88 convertibles. (Actually one is my son's) One is an IROC early production (IIRC Nov 87) HIS and the other is a Sport later production (July 88).
The exterior is the same (with of course the exception of the IROC decaling) The spoiler is the same on both with the exception of the extender pieces on the doors on the IROC (earlier production), The tonneau release mechanism is also different. On the IROC it was metal shafts tied together...on the Sport it is a cable mechanism.
As mentioned it all depended on when it was at ASC and what parts they had left from previous batches...
The IROC was one of 3761 built and the Sport one of 1859 built.

Re: My 88 camaro vert.
Huh, Mine has the rod style release for the top. I remember a friend of mine had a 88 "Camaro" back a few years ago, and his was the rod style also. I guess that later in 88 was teh switch over to the cable style. Which I happen to have the parts to make that work. I just need to get the AL stuff from work and bend up a tab and a plate to mount the release latch.
Thanks for the info!
