New vert owner.

Just thought Id introduce myself.
(This first paragraph is personal details)
Names Jack, 19 years old. Lived all over the world, most recently in Florida, and now reside in the Bahamas. Always had a passion for 3rd gen Camaros. Had a very nice '91 RS Coupe, almost completely restored, when I totaled it. (Very bad wreck, lucky to be alive kind of wreck) Decided to take a brake from cars after that, now that Ive relocated to the Bahamas, I decided to start a new project.

Which brings me to the vert. Ive always wanted a 3rd gen vert, so there I am, browsing Craigslist, when I stumble upon what looks like a good candidate. Couincidently the woman I bought it from also advertised it here a long time ago. These are two of her ads I found. (https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cars...utiful-lo.html) (https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cama...85#post3334050)
I paid $1000 cash for the car. Its in pretty shitty condition, but I kind of want that since I will be paying about 60% duty on it when I import it here. Anyways, Im waiting on the title to come in, so I can export it out of the US and into the Bahamas. Ill get some pics of it when I get a chance, it will be maybe 1-2 months before I have the car here. (its a long and painful process) Eventualy Im going all out on this one. Right now the plans are:
Fix power steering, its totaly GONE, Im not a small guy, and I could barely turn this thing.
Fix AC...because I live in the Bahamas...and its hot...yeah.
Reinforce frame.
Start body work.

Oh and heres a not-so-funny fact, I drove this car from Tampa to West Palm Beach, and it already got me a $76 ticket for expired tags. This is my 13'th ticket this year in the US. Oh well, good thing I don't care about my driving record in the US anymore huh?

Wow this turned out to be a long post, sorry bout that, but thank you for reading. If you have any suggestions, warnings, or just want to tell me to go pound sand, please feel free.
~Cheers.

Re: New vert owner.

sounds awesome dude. What are the roads like down there? Do you plan to have resto parts shipped directly to you or get most of it shipped to fl to be picked up? Post some pics when you can. You should dress the car up in 85-90 ground effects and some iroc rims and enjoy the sun

Re: New vert owner.

The roads in towns are pretty bad, but theres a really nice stretch of highway running down the entire island. Maybe 150 miles or so of straight road. No speed limit, no cops. We're building a beachfront house in a tiny settlement, theres 1 (one) cop here, and hes asleep at home most of the time. When I do see him driving around hes usualy sipping on a beer. lol Theres no laws against drinking and driving. Insurance costs about $200 a year. (yes, a year) but if you dont feel like getting insurance no problem, you will never get pulled over for anything anyway. No crime, I can leave my car unlocked anywhere anytime as long as I want. So yeah...paradise.

As far as the parts, I plan on having them shipped to Florida. We have a small plane (Piper Warrior) so pick up is no problem. (well, right now the plane is sitting in our shop because we turbo charged it, but the turbo was defective. )

I am going to put some GFX on it, and I liked the RS wheels I had on my '91.

Re: New vert owner.

that 1985 vert is not made by ASC because they didnt make verts until 86,
the conversion looks like matrix m3 or cochworks

Alright. I didn't really get a chance to look at the car that much, she said it was ASC so thats what I went with. From what I did see, it did look a little strange to be ASC. Honestly Im not all that up on my 3rd gen history like some of you guys are, so thanks for the heads up.
