I bought this car off ebay fom a guy that must have taken parts off the car my question isdo all conv. have a switch somewere to open the tonneau cover as my car has none .....i was told by the guy that sold me the car that not all came w/ the power option...this has got to be bs i took apart the rear side panel and can see a power plunger hooked to the cable system that im forced to pull ...if anyone has info on were the switch should be and if anyone would sell me oneor tell me were to get one would be greatThanks alot in advancePaul

Its the switch to pop the rear hatch, which is the one below the center AC ducts.

Yes, someone (as in ASC) did the conversion should have changed that switch on the dash of your Firebird 'vert to releasing the tonneau instead of releasing the hatch (trunk). Convertibles don't have a hatch release switch.

What Lon said. If its an ASC conversion (and being an 89 it should be), its that switch. There's no switch to pop the trunk lid once the conversion is done unless someone went in there and changed things around.

 

My switch is on the console between the power window switches.

it is an asc car sticker is in the door and i also do upholstery for a living and have put alot of tops on the asc camaros but the bird was one i have seen not to many of thats why when i found this one i had to have it The little button on the dash has a pic of a notch back looking car showing a trunk opening in the direction of the trunk not backwards as the top coverthe trunk has a power pull down option that doesnt work when i put a fuse were one was missing it starts to make a loud rumbling noise so i removed the fuse as someone did in the past to fix this prob. I want to put new rug in it anyways so ill trace some wires at that time Thanks for the helpPaul

 

Thats because ASC didnt change the switch for the hatch release, they just rewired it.
