A possible solution to the weatherstripping issue? Look inside

I hafta admit, I was a wee bit weary about revealing what I found the other day. I'm afraid everyone is gonna buy these, then I won't be able to get any. But, there are others out there that need this stuff more than me (only one of my pieces needs replacing), so here you go.

http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Weatherstri...SC00085/559212
87-92 vert top header seal $158.50 shipped

http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Weatherstri...SR00113/512719
87-92 vert 4 piece top window seals $199 shipped

http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Weatherstri...SC00086/634737
87-92 vert rear bow seal $118 shipped

http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Weatherstri...ST00043/433270
87-92 vert trunk seal $43 shipped

total comes to $518.50

The header seal is availabe for $120 shipped on ebay. here's a link.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/87-92...QQcmdZViewItem

So if you buy that one instead of the one from 1aauto, it costs you $480 shipped to your door for the top weatherstripping and the rear trunk weatherstripping. This is far more affordable than the $600 kits on eBay, but I tried to find one to compare the contents and couldn't.

Or, this may be a good source for those of us who only need portions of seals that may have been damaged or something at some point. For example, my pass. side seal above the window has a chunk missing, the rest is fine.

The Firebird & Camaro ASC cars should use the same seals for the same year as ASC used the same pieces. IE 87 Firebird ASC should be the same as a n ASC 1987 Camaro

I think they are the same as th eones in the Ebay kit. I am pretty sure Metro is the only ones making them right now. also here is a link for the rear bow seal for $100.90 shipped also they have the header seal for $0.10 cheaper (no bog deal on that though but they have it)

Yeah, I figured that would happen once word got out. I'm sure I'm not the first one, nor is the site the first, to have news of that weatherstripping. Well, a positive note; maybe since they sold out so quick, they will see that it was a hot seller and will make more. I hope so, because upon closer inspection, looks like I will need it soon. It'll hafta wait till after I pull the heads of the engine...looks like I got me a blown gasket or a cracked head

Yea I have a few other things I need to do first as well. I really need the window seals and the rear bow though, those are pretty torn up on my car.

By the way, where at in Missouri is Whiteman AFB?

I beleve one of my (ex) cars was stationed at Whiteman AFB about 10 years ago. It was a Blue Formula 350, at one point he was transferred to Germany and took the car with him... it definately saw Autobahn action.

Not even close anymore lol. Now they have the B2 stealth bomber. The missles have been gone since the early 90s. The main control facility for the missles is still there though as a museum/historical site you can tour and stuff. Pretty cool.

I thought the missiles were gone. I was a cable splicer for the missle system when I was out there, been down in the silo's and command centers many times over.We kept up the hard wire communication system that tied all of the missle squadrons together. Pretty serious job but had a lot of fun also.
