conversion top replacement
My '84 vert was a conversion by matrix3 and uses velcro around the bottom back edge of the top to secure it to the body. better then snaps I suppose, but has anyone with a pre-GM built conversion replaced their top and what kind of retention system did they use? My wife had a 86 mustang that had an excellent system using a stiff "lip" on the top and a "lip" on the car that it slid under. is a system like that standard on vert tops these days or is velcro still in use???

Re: conversion top replacement
Since you will be hard pressed to find a replacement top for the car you would probably have to go to a upholstery shop and they should be able to custom make one for you. If they cant then go to another shop. Ask them what they recommend, they might have a better idea than most of us...

Re: conversion top replacement
thats what I plan to do...just wondering if anybody has gone this route before...did they use velcro again ...or what do the later model verts use? I looked at the schematics at the top of the vert section, but couldnt really tell much about how the back of the top attaches to the vehicle..........I plan on taking the old velcro off the car to paint, just trying to get ideas....
