Help needed
Hey all, New here on this site. I am also new to the Camaro world as I just purchased a 1988 Convertible. I bought it from the original owner. It's red with a silver bottom and black top and interior. The car even sports the original paint which still shines for the most part. The only problem is it will not start because it probably sat in storage too long (about two years). The car don't look like its ever been modified in any way. When I turn the switch I can hear the fuel pump but I don't see any fuel enter the throttle body. What do yall think I need to check first? Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks

Re: Help needed
Did he use StaBil?
What model is it, SC or IROC? you might not see anything on a TBI car, I know you won't on a TPI car...

Re: Help needed
It's a SC not an Iroc, it has a 305 auto trans 125k miles.

Sorry for the extra post, whats the difference between TBI and TPI?
No stabalizer was used in fuel.

Re: Help needed
Sport Coupe would be why it's 2-tone (silver at the bottom).
It would also have a TBI as it's top engine as the TPI wasn't offered in the '88 SC.
TBI - Throttle-Body Fuel Injection 2 fuel injectors mounted above the engine in a carb like throttle body. Simple but less precise fuel delivery.

TPI - Tuned-Port Fuel Injection 8 fuel injectors. One for each cylinder. More complex but more accurate fuel delivery.

Dumb question . . . is there gas in the tank?
PS; Welcome!
As this topic has nothing to do with the fact she's a vert, the mods may move this topic to the TBI forum.

Not a biggie. We just want to help you as best we can. Didn't want your engine question go unnoticed.
Regarding not knowing much . . . we were all at that point at one time. Heck, I probably still am
