89GTA
Got it in April of 2002, high 4 digit range.

 

I just got mine in April of '07. It's an '89 Firebird. Price was low 4 digit range.

There are several pix in the "Your Convertibles" sticky at the top of this Convertible Forum page. And in the Appearance Forum, there are more pix of it in a thread called, "Artistic pix of your birds," or something like that.

Sold this car in April, 2009.

what makes this thread different is the buyer price and the seller price

i was tiring to get a street market value of how much the conv sell for.
I am in the process of buying a 89 GTA vert and i did not know if 8k was to much to pay for it, his asking price was 10k

the car is all stock 60k miles 5.7 asc converted.

I guess that all depends on the condition and what you're willing to pay for it. Thats about the mileage and price on mine, 6 years ago. 10k is likely too much, and the market on these cars right now still isnt very good... just a few people really wanting things like TTA's and low mileage cars right now.

 

I am going to be picking up the car this sunday and i was looking for any last minute comments about the price ect on the car. I got the car down to 7,500and that's as low as this guy is going to go.

There is only one car i can compare the price too so far. it is "madmax 89 GTA Conv" the only prob is it was bought back in 02 7 years ago for will say 5K

I paid $8000 for my Formula 350 Vert, and I was offered $12,000 this past summer, I have had several people tell me they wanted the car if I ever wanted to sell. Of course the car has only 36,000 miles on it and it is the 4th lowest (known) miles of all the cars left of the 42 ever made...

The GTA 350 would be one of 139, of course there are 15 VINS which I cannot verify because they were either exported or never titled in the US or Canada.

 

Have an 1988 formula. Was a 305, auto. When I bought it it actually had slicks on the back.

Bought it brand new in St Charles, Illinios back it 1988. Drove it right off the show room floor. Paid around 27,000 something, Dont remember exactly, I will have to look up the paper work, And the window sticker is framed and in the car, which is in storage right now.

 

89 TA 5.7L purchased in 92 w/ 9k miles for $14,500. Now at 27k miles.

 

Bought mine in 2000 for $3500, needed engine, tranny, interior, new top, paint, and door hinges.

In Hindsight I was suprised the thing ever got me home from where I bought it.

 

WAs that car in Autotrader? I want to think there was a Red one around that time and the price is about the same... I called on the car but it sold the same day as the magazine came out or something like that...

Sorry about that last reply. My daughter thought it funny to be obnoxious. I just bought this car for 4750.00. It needs some work but I had a chance at one of these new back in 1988 and my Pop thought it was just to much to pay 28K for one. I tend to agree. So I got a black GTA coupe. If I can answer any more questions just let me know.

 

Forgot to mention this Med Red Convt. is a 1987.

Well as for the information here is what I know... Unfortunately most of what I know or have information for is 1989, but I do have soem for 1987.

There were 173 Firebird Convertibles made in 1987 by ASC. Since your car is an ASC most parts from a Camaro will fit it, unfortuatnely there are a few unique parts, specifically teh spears or caps that are on the top of the fenders and the rear Brake light housing. the rear spoiler is a Base firebird Wing from 1987 - 1992 but they cut the ends off for the deck lid.

Was that car on ebay a while back, for some reason the car looks familiar.

Thanks for the reply. I am new to the site so it will take me a few days to figure out how to use all the features correctly but anyway I did get this car off of ebay a few months ago. It is an ASC convertible. One other thing I would like to find out if possibly re its production. Is there any way to determine of the 173 how many were GTAs. I have got to believe more firebirds and ta-s were sold than GTAs.

Actually I think more GTA's out of the four were sold than anything. I know in 1989 there were only a few Trans Am's And Formulas comapared to the GTA VErt, even the base Firebird paled in production

For example out of the 324 Total Firebirds made in 1989:
149 were GTA or Trans Am's, LB9 or L98, of the 11 owners who have contacted me only one was a Trans Am.
4 Trans Am's with the LO3 Engine,
3 Turbo Trans Am
60 Formulas (L98 or LB9)
58 Firebirds or Formulas (LO3)
38 Firebirds V6 (LB8)

Still 15 are unknown.

If I were a betting man I would almost bet that about 75 of the 173 were GTA's. You have to remember that the Convertible was about $4000 to $6000 conversion, If your going to skimp, now was not the time. From the information I have and the patterns that I have seen most of the V6, base LO3 cars and probably even the Formulas were probably Dealer stock cars, the GTA's the Trans Am's with the LB9 and L98 were more than likely special order cars.

Of course this is speculation.

Hey 88Convertible that looks really nice. Makes me excited about getting mine up to snuff.... I hope to have a quick partial resto done by end of Spring.

Just an update, I got the car out of storage the other day, I paid $23,695 as the vert option was $6999.95 and was converted by ASC.

not much... all i know is they did a few conversions for a dealer in the baltimore area... as best i can tell...

i only know the company that did the conversion because there are stickers on the doors and little brass plates riveted to the head rests...
