Jacking your car

I was just wondering if any of you vert owners have had problems from jacking the car up from one corner given the low structural integrity and flexing of our cars. Jacking would pertty much be the ultimate stress.
I need to jack it up to re-connect the temp sender but have not jacked the car yet. Wondering if I should buy a second jack and raise the whole front at the same time to avoid flexing.

Re: Jacking your car

i jack mine up with one jack, most of the time on the K-member, and on the back I jack it up on the rear end pumpkin. I did it before the subframe connectors and do it after installing the SFC's. I don't think you can hurt the car as long as you jack it up on the frame, and not anywhere else.

Can't be any more stress than some of the corners I hang!

I've never had a problem with jacking the car up.

Re: Jacking your car

Took me a while to get around to it but now I have a 2nd Q...

Where are the jacking points? (I have no vert manual or sticker in my trunk)

I can find them along the length of the car. I need to spot them how far from the edge of the car. I guess when the verts got reinforced they covered up the jacking points. So my question is, are the jacking points on the outside edge, inside edge or centered along the reinforcement?

At least on my car the jacking points were not covered up. I doubt they were on any of the cars.

The Jack that comes with a thirdgen has a domed top. If you look under the car you will see open holes into which that dome would fit. The rear points are just in front of where the rear control arms attach. the front points are located just about where the door henges are. It will be obvious when you look in these places.

Re: Jacking your car

I jack mine from the Pig on the rear axel then you have the same stress' as you would with the tires on the ground, If your not removing the axel then put jackstands on the Axel tubes ( I go as far out without interfering with anything (like tires).

In the front I use the K-member (be careful to to go too far back as your oil pan is right there so you could crinkle your pan or worse give it a crack then it leaks... I put jack stands where the front A-arm meets the K-member.
