Convertible Tops
I have been looking at many photos of cars on this site, why do many of the convertible tops around the trunk area appear to be lifting?

Re: Convertible Tops
Do you mean the rear left corner?

This is due to the rear deck not being completely flat. About 1/3 of the left side is about 1/2" higher (due to the convertible conversion). So when the roof is stored in the down position, it sits on the on this slight rise. Over time, the roof's fabric edge trim can develope a memory of this shape. However the roof is still closed properly when up and the rear bow seal still seals. It just looks a little odd.

Re: Convertible Tops
The material of the top is glued to the #5 bow. The glue comes loose from age and the stretch of the top. Mine's been coming up at both corners for over a year. The plastic window just developed a crack this week, so it's time to finally replace my top. Now the dilemma, I have a NOS ASC top that is tan which I could use in place of my original black top or upgrade to the newer style with smaller glass rear window.

Re: Convertible Tops
I wonder is somebody could post some pictures of the two different conditions mentioned above. Especially the second one. I've seen the situation I've presented many times over (which always occurs on the left side for obvious reasons) but I can't recall seeing the second possible cause (which sounds like it could happen anywhere along the #5 bow, left or right, depending on where the glue bond fails).
Might help readers determine what their situation is (unless it looks exactly the same).
Thanks

Re: Convertible Tops
An upholstery shop that is experienced with working with convertibles would be able to fix the lifting for you. They can take the top off and re-glue it for you for a small charge.
