Convertible Recall?
Just got off the phone with a rep from Chevrolet ordering restoration packages for the 3 3rd gens I own.He informed me of 2 recalls one of which was the seatbelt buckles which we all know about but the other one was news to me.He said it was for the convertible top disengagement? The recall # he gave me was 90007.Has anyone else heard of that? And what exactly does it involve?

Re: Convertible Recall?
That's news to me Marc, I've been doing some quick research and I've come up dry. Would a dealership have any information on this?

Re: Convertible Recall?
Ryan....Its possible since its a gm recall. Here is what they sent in the email......
In addition, I have processed the vehicle identification numbers (VIN) that you have provided in your email. Further check shows that there are open recalls on your vehicles. Details about the recalls are as follows:
Recall 90043 for the seat belt buckles on your 1986 Camaro
Recall 90007 for the convertible top latch disengagement on your 1989 Camaro
Recall 90043 for the seat belt buckles on your 1988 Camaro
Please see your dealership service department as soon as possible to have these recalls completed at no cost to you.

Re: Convertible Recall?
I had mine done back in 2000 . . .

The factory latches on some models (check with your dealer to see if it applys to you) had some componants that were apparently not of a high enough grade and/or were prone to corrosion over time and could weaken as a result. While remote, I guess there was a chance these could break. And having the leading edge of your rood open at 60+mph would not be a good thing. At least this is what I remember the dealer telling me 8 years ago!

Re: Convertible Recall?
Ok...Well if thats all then Im not going to worry about it since I already replaced my top latches with a set I got off a 1992 RS junkyard vert. One thing I did notice was that the hold down pins on the 92 latches are about twice as long as the original ones on my 89
