92 Vert RPO sheet location

I have a trivial question for you...

I know that in mid 1991 they relocated the SPID sheet from the center console to the rear hatch area... Originally ASC used the original interior trim panels from the coupe but they cut them to retain the original compartment (on the left) and the spare tire cover (on the right). I know they went away from this at one point (either 1989 or 1990) and I want to think that 1991 & 1992 did not get these cut down panels.

What did they do with the SPID sheet if they removed the interior panels on a vert in 1992 after they relocated the sheet?

My rpo sheet is in the center counsel cubby hole. Not on the lid, but on the side.

Re: 92 Vert RPO sheet location

I know that mid 1991 they actually relocated the Sheet... I jsut wonder if they kept the sheet in the same location for the Verts but moved the coupes location to the rear...

thanks...

Re: 92 Vert RPO sheet location

I'm not sure if I'm not understanding correctly, but my 1992 TA convertible has molded carpet in the left rear cargo area, and the RPO sticker was located in the center console - which a few other 1992 TA convertible owners indicated as well.

Re: 92 Vert RPO sheet location

My '90 RS has the interior pieces inside the trunk - Lock box on the left + Spare Cover on the right.

The RPO Code Sheet is located inside the center console compartment on the passenger side where it would be clearly visible to someone in the drivers seat...

I've had my car over SIX years now! That might not seem like a long time to some of you but it just doesn't SEEM like it has been that long!

Re: 92 Vert RPO sheet location

THat would be another good history question...

When did they go away from the interior plastic pieces cut down from the coupe to use in the Vert... My 89 has them, but someone else stated they thought it was in 1988 for the camaro... Apparetnly it was after 1990... WAs it the 1991 model year? Possibly to save weight?

Re: 92 Vert RPO sheet location

I remember reading that the change was to add a couple of extra square feet of storage space in the trunk.

Re: 92 Vert RPO sheet location

Consider when they released the Child safety Windows in 4 door cars... it really had nothing to do with Child safety to why the windows only rolled down half way... It had to do with the fact that the rear wheel well interfered with the operation of the window so it could not go down all the way. I suspect the rear plastic panels were eliminated for some other reason other than extra space. I suspect it was either to save money or it was to lighten the car in any way possible. Very few things are done in the automotive industry that does not revolve around the bottom line.

My question was answered, apparently it was located in the center console where the 85 -mid 91 cars was located.

Re: 92 Vert RPO sheet location

My 91 TA was built in Van Nuys in Sept 1990 and converted to a convertible at ASC in March 1991. The RPO label was located on the inside of the console compartment on the passenger side when I picked up the car from the dealer.

The location is a poor one. The label gets significant wear when accessing things in the console. After 18 years, it got so bad that many of the codes could barely be read. I have removed it and put it in a book with other fact sheets for the car. At least it will not get any more wear and fading.
