Re: car wash?
It won't hurt the top but make sure your window and top seals are tight or you might get a bunch of water inside! Also, how's your paint? If you care about it, use only a "touchless" wash. The pads and brushes in the others will beat the crap out of the finish. I would only go to a car wash as a last resort. Careful handwashing is always the best but in ND this may not be an option at this time of year.

Re: car wash?
I flat out refuse to take my Camaro through _ANY_ form of powered wash. I don't even use one of those personal pressure washers. It's hand-wash or nothing...at least once a week, more during the summer.
My 9C1 Impala only sees a gas-station style car wash if it _really_ needs it. I'll usually take it to the rubber duck/DIY coin carwash and hose it off myself, so I can let the soap sit, rinse good around the pushbar and under the doors, etc.
I'd suggest you find one of those DIY carwashes. That way, you can focus on cleaning the underside/sides of the car, and not get water in/around the door seals, soaking the roof, etc.
