Does anyone know where I can get the mechanism that releases the back of the top?

The release handle is broke on mine and I believe is missing the part that the cable connects to on the other end. The part that holds down the pointed piece connected to the back of the top.

I just have a cotter pin now that holds it in place and the guy that put my top on says that should not be there and if I had the right piece the top would sit a lot tighter and flush to the back of the car.

Where can I order this piece? I saw one on ebay for like $80. Wish I had bid on it but I missed the end of the auction. What do you think this part will cost me? Thanks Mike

 

Call up GM Sports Salvage. I'm sure someone else here will point you in another direction, but they're the only place that I know of. www.gmsportssalvage.com. My very first Firebird ended up there, and they've got TONS of stuff.

Yea, their site is pretty generic, and I wish they had an email so I could email them while I still remember what I need.

 

Post a "want ad" in the parts wanted section of this forum and you may be able to get one for cheap. Or, you could buy one from Hawks, but it will cost you.
