Looks pretty nice, carb drops the price, but I would say between $1500-$2500 as well. New tops are not to hard to come by.

Re: Is it worth the money?
Did you get it off ebay? I think I saw this listed. Does it have custom interior? The one I saw was going for around $2000, to me for a 1987 that is the 25 th anniversary, plus there were only a bit over 700 verts made that year., it is worth around $3000???

Re: Is it worth the money?
I'd say about $1,500 based on the fact that it needs obvious body and paint work, it's a carb car, and isn't an IROC-Z, just a Z28.
Re: Is it worth the money?
Yes it has the 20th Anniversary Map Pocket in front of passenger seat.
Yes it is the one on ebay and it is a 20th anniversary
and to my surprise i ran the vin # and it came out like this
Year: 1987 Style/Body: Convertible 2D
Make: Chevrolet Engine: 5.0L V8 4BBL
Model: Camaro IROC Z28 / Z28 Country of Assembly: United States

Re: Is it worth the money?
My opinion is that it is a 1987 Iroc Convertible, around 700 verts made that year as a end of the year option. First year for a Camaro convertible since 1969, plus its the 20th anniversary. I think it is a car, that if you put money into it, it will only go up in value. Not sure what you got it for, but if it was for around 2-3 G's, I think it is a good deal.

Need way more pics to tell condition... hard to say with what you posted.. Where did you run the vin? I didn't think you could tell a vert from a coupe via vin since they were all conversions..

Interesting mix. It's either a Z28 painted to look like an IrocZ, or it's an IrocZ with Z28 wheels swapped onto it!

Nice car drive it and enjoy . If you paid over 3 grand I would say that is a little step ,any less , Deal. However if the car was close and you did not have to travel to get it . I would say you paid what is worth at 3grand . Looks to be a solid car and you should not feel guilty modifying it . Its not like these cars are on every corner . So how much ?

$2k and you overpaid for an 88 IROC convert? What kind of condition are we talking about? That actually seems like a good deal.

If you you have paid 1K for it, someone on here would have said you over paid for the car. it appears to be a nice car enjoy it. It amazes me that people on this board complain about values and turn around and lowball every car someone asks about just because it's not an IROC.

Re: Is it worth the money?
My understanding is that all 1987 convertibles were either IROCS or a regular camaro, all IROCS had the Z28 badging, the only IROC badgin was the IROC decal on the lower half of the door. I also believe since it has a TPI that also makes it an IROC. I am pretty sure this is right, can anyone else substantiate this?

Re: Is it worth the money?
You could have gotten a Z28 Camaro Convertible in 1987, I thought Willie had one.
I think the car in question is an IROC, it has fog lights, which IIRC are rather uncommon on the Z28 from 1985 - 1987. I think someone swapped the wheels... nonetheless I think the Z28 Vert is much more rare than a IROC vert by far for 1987.
If you really want to know what it was from the factory and do not have the SPID sheet in the center console, look on the drivers side door jamb and look for the tire sizes.. R15 = Z28, R16 = IROC... Based purely on the production numbers I would bet it is a IROC.
With the rust and everything else included, Engine, milage, I think you did yourself really fair. The rust is worrisome, I can find Verts all over for $1000 - $2000... Problem is there are none around me. And they either do not run, do not have engines, transmissions or missing a ton of parts... I think you did really good honestly... I could probably sell it quickly up here in MI for $2500 right now.

Re: Is it worth the money?
1) Yes all third gen Firebirds and Camaro Convertibles were conversions.
2) There was about a dozen companies doing their own conversion, but ASC got the Official Conversion blessing by GM.
3) ASC did Camaro Dealer conversions from 1985 - 1987 (possibly 1988) and Firebird Dealer conversions from 1986 - 1989.
4) The final design was a collaborative effort between GM and ASC for all Camaros and I believe all Firebirds.
5) ASC also did all of the Factory Camaro Conversions from 1987 - 1992 and Factory Firebird conversions from 1991 & 1992. These cars received a VIN to identify them as a convertible.
6) Year for year All of the ASC cars are the same there was nothing skimped on when a dealer had a conversion done.
7) It was Fuel economy that mandated the engine and transmission combination's for the Factory convertibles, NOT the torque of the engine...
I hope that helps.
