Tony,
Hey if you get a chance, I need some information and some good pictures of the Black trim piece that is under your 3rd brake light, Mine is missing the Black piece.
Also, you will find interesting that the subframe connectors should be the same from any 3rd Gen ASC Vert, I do not think they changed any... Holes may not all line up, but they should be close. Also the Black trim cover piece that covers the gap between the body and the subframe connector is the same as they used on the Cavaliers and the Sunbirds from the same era, ASC simply trimmed them to fit. Fortunately the wheel base is shorter on a 3rd gen than a Cavalier or Sunbird from the 80's
To get them off you have to unscrew the ends (The little metal clips in the wheel well) and then (I forget) ether push up or push down slightly and pull the opposite out. The Clips were still available from GM in 2007.
Congrats, AND you have mail... I actually had an Autocheck from 2006 on your car

Re: Well im doing it again
One last thing to note about the car...
1) it originally had a BLUE top, it is actually only 1 of 2 of the known 42 Formula 350 convertibles with the Blue top. There was also only 2 Tan Top Formula 350 Verts as well.. The other 38 had BLACK tops...

Re: Well im doing it again
A little late don't you think ???
lol
Unfortunately it does not specify the exact year... 87, 88 & 92... well.. err... umm... The 87 & 88 use a different top than 89, and 90-92 is different too, but I think the 90-92 fit the 89... The Width of the 89+ is slightly wider.
I was talking to Bruce Hawkins and apparently 1989 is a unique year, He was told by a customer that a 90+ top frame would not fit on an 89 car... not sure what would be different if you replaced all of the hardware....

Re: Well im doing it again
I replaced my top/frame on my '88 vert with one from a 92.
Of course, I had to change the latch receivers, but that wasn't terrible
It does seem to be a tad short though.
I still want the op's newest vehicle!

Re: Well im doing it again
92 vert frame has a heavy spring on the passenger side attached to an arm, 91-down don't have.
nah it's tony. I think the thrill of the hunt is half the fun. he can contact the seller to find out the buyer and go from there lol

Re: Well im doing it again
Thanx 4 all the information guys..
the car still has the orginal BLUE top on it! he did stich the rear window back in it with what looks like fishing string !
John as soon as I get her home I take all the pix ya need.
I did notice the rear window is a bunch bigger than the one on my 92. plus the 89 doesnt have the headliner like my 92. im sure there is waaay more diff..
Aaron, Holy crap that top sure would'a been sweet!!!

Cool find... it's just a shame to see that the PO's would let such a rare car go to hell like that but its good to see that it's finally in the right hands.

Its probably one of those conditions where someone had some good intentions, ran out of ambition... My first 87 Formula was like that, The guy was going to rebuild the motor, so he removed the aircleaner and the carb... The car sat for two or three years when I bought it.
