Re: Flowmaster with Vert?

You'll be a whole lot happier with a Hooker Aerochamber than the Flowmaster. It sounds so much better and flows better. That's just my . I've had both on a 305. The hooker has a much deeper sound and isn't "raspy" sounding like the flowmaster. Plus, no drone.

At the moment I have the Jegs 3" cat-back on my LT1. It has the same exact sound as a Flowmaster. Personally, I hate it. It has that raspy tin can sound. I bought it because it was cheap and is mandrel bent. I'm planning on swapping out the muffler itself pretty soon to another Hooker.

Re: Flowmaster with Vert?

I used to have Blowmaster on my car and I hated the sound. Switched to the SLP Catback and am a lot happier.

Re: Flowmaster with Vert?

They are actually discontinued now. I bought this catback in 2004. it has a much different sound from anything else out there. But since it's gone, put anything other than Flowmaster. I like the Spintechs and Borlas.

Re: Flowmaster with Vert?

A very annoying noise at cruising speeds that is at just the right pitch to give you a headache. It's almost like the sound of blowing across the top of a bottle.

Re: Flowmaster with Vert?

Yes, mine used to drone a good bit at highway speed. I bought my GTA with the Flowmaster installed. I liked it at first, but the more I drove it, the more I hated the sound. It's loud for one thing... loud for no reason, and that drone comes it at highway speed that resonates through the interior. It was so bad that I could hear it over my radio.

I don't have any drone with my flowmaster. I go on day long cruises with my t-tops off with out a problem. The stock exhaust manifolds may have something to do with that tho. It's the crossflow one, so IMO it's not that loud nor does it flow super well but I think it has a nice sound. At WOT you actually hear more intake than exhaust. Here's a video to give you an idea.

The Flowmaster won't be on my car forever mind you.

I had one on my T-top car for a long time. At highway cruising it has a nice mellow sound but not loud at all. It's very easy to have a normal conversation in the car while cruising. At idle it sounds awesome. It's a very deep aggressive sound. During normal driving it's pretty civilized. But, at WOT it's going to get REALLY loud. When I get the wiring and interior done on my vert it's getting an Aerochamber on it before I go driving it around.

Re: Flowmaster with Vert?

Flowmaster makes 2 & 3 chamber mufflers, with less baffleing the 2 chamber muffler is alot louder and more annoying than the 3 chamber. IDK which one you guys are running, but you might check into it.

Re: Flowmaster with Vert?

had flowmasters on two of my cars, to include my Vert. alot of the sound comes from what you do with the tips. my vert has turn downs hidden under the bumper like the stock configuration, and though i think it gives it alittle deeper and more muscular sound than with tips out the back, i can say my other Z that had flowmaster had 2.5" tips out the back with 3" chrome tips and it was louder and very nice sounding. the problem i've had with flowmaster is the rap rap coming down fast in RPMs. both have sounded fine under controlled acceleration/deceleration but when you quickly rev over 3K and let it down quickly you get what sounds like bb's firing into a tin can. had buddy's with 350's that never had the problem so i attribute that to not enough CID. either way i plan to go away from flowmaster and go to a borla resonator setup similar to what's offered for the C5/C6 vetts.
