Taunna reliece switch help

In my 91 RS convertible I have a switch inbetween the switches for the windows on my console and it doesn't do anything. If I am not mistaken isn't it supposed to reliese the taunno so you can put the top down? Rite now I have to use the two pull cables behind the back seats. I need someones help with this. I read the pull cables are for emergency only and shouldn't be used all the time.
I checked the fuses and they are all good. There is also no power to the trunk. The lite doesn't work and there is no power to the 3rd brake lite. I figured that out after replacing the lite bulbs and as you all know those aren't cheep and there's 5 of them. Is this just a used car anomaly or are they related?
I am sinking alot of money in this car and I want everything to be rite. This is the only place I have found that has offered me any help with my problems so far. I take what is said here and told to me here very seriousally. I love 3rd gen Camaros especially convertibles and when I found mine for sale and so cheep I jumped at it. This makes my 5th or 6th one to date and I am going to make this one special.

Re: Taunna reliece switch help

It is important to get the trunk pull-down working first since the tonneau will not release until then. Check that you have power at the red with white stripe wire that plugs into the blue wire. Look at the Tech Article I wrote on repairing the hatch pull-down units that is here on thirdgen.org under the General Repairs category.

Were you testing the HMSL (High Mount Stop Light) while the trunk lid was open? It won't have power going to it when the trunk is open. It gets it's power thru the contact pad that is just to the left of the trunk latch. Once the trunk is closed the HMSL should have power.

Yea my trunk pull down doesn't work I didn't know I had one. I don't have any power going back there I don't think. I tested the stop lites at the connection block with the trunk open. I will try to find your actical on repairing the pull down motor but if you could will you please send me a link. That sounds like what I have going on. I can hear something click when I press the switch. Is there a fuseable link the fuse is good.
