Yes I have the same problem. I'm glad there are release cables under the carpet under the back setback's. I never tried to troubleshoot yet.

It seems like it is intermittent too, but you're right it is nice to be able to still get it to work.

Re: tonneau release switch keeps popping fuses

can someone tell me where the fuse is located for the tonneau release switch? What size fuse is it? I have looked at the fuse box and see nothing that gives any indication of a fuse for the tonneau. When I move the switch I hear a clicking but nothing releases. I went ahead and changed the relay under/near the switch but still no release. I am hoping that if someone here can direct me to the fuse...

if you hear it click you have power.. its happened to me before but hit it with some wd40 and it releases with no problem. just gotta lube it up.try spraying it. mine was stuck and i sprayed it vigorously and it popped. no probs since.

Re: tonneau release switch keeps popping fuses

goliath88,
I do hear it click at the console and I can feel and hear the relay 'click'. I had replaced the relay with the thought it might be bad again I can feel the relay click when I push the tonneau release button. Neither of the two solenoids activate-I have been able to easily move/activate them both with my fingers...
I think that my trunk release is where my problem lies as I noted that it does work but the whole mechanism is pretty broken up and was jury-rigged to stay in place so I just put it all back in place the best I could until I can replace the whole mechanism with one I pulled from a 90 Iroc at the junkyard. Still wondering if anyone can tell me where the fuse for the tonneau release is located and even perhaps the size of the fuse is?

Re: tonneau release switch keeps popping fuses

I had to fabricate one of the tonneau release pull cords as the driver side one broke during the weekend. I decided to go ahead and fabricate/replace both sides while I had everything accessible. It took about $3.00 worth of ferrule stops and $1.50 worth of 1/16 wire cable and Viola!- all done and replaced. At least now I can go ahead and put down the convertible top manually and now I have time to get all the parts working electronically...
