So I sold my "new" exhaust tips that came with the Pacesetter kit, and my old muffler for enough to cover the new kit! Haha I love you Craigslist, and free exhaust LOL!

Well haven't much to update, but have been driving it, and waiting for my painter to call me
On a happy note... I ordered my leather seat covers today!!!

I'm gonna use full leather kit from a member here... Covergirl. Some of you may have seen her comment or other members mention using here kits here.
This is her site... http://www.lethalinteriors.com/
I plan on taking a bunch of complete pics for her and everybody else to look at. Very fair priced kit.

I think after the time and effort you put into it you owe it to yourself to hold onto it for 1 warm season of cruising with the top down. Then sell it.

If he does that he'll never get rid of it. Once you go roofless you never wear a top again.....unless your a chick, then for the most part they never ride with the top down anyway.

Lol! I will be selling it as soon as it is done. I need to get the money back out of it. I would love to take it to Super Chevy show and win stock and Modified classes, but I pray it sells before that.

I ordered the new replacement emblems. I could not find the correct single color red emblems in the OE style, so hopefully these will look good enough.

Re: I'm in trouble... 92 Z03 Z28 Vert
emblems don't look bad. not sure i'd use the nose emblem, but otherwise look alright. i wish i could find a guy locally who did good work, at a reasonable price. last quote i got for my vert was $12k for a factory purple job. i figure i couldn't justify paying that much just to cry the first time a rock hit it....

So I got some teaser pics of the leather seat covers from Covergirl this afternoon. I got to say I am impressed with her communication and overall speed of getting this done. They are shipping in the morning!!!

Re: I'm in trouble... 92 Z03 Z28 Vert
nope i'd have to break everything down (truthfully i'd prefer that anyway as i don't trust a shop to not damage the vert specific parts, at least if i do it i know i broke something, or didn't so when i get it back if it is broke i know who did it).
the price included a stock Hawaiian orchid paint job, with the door jams, trunk and tonneu jams painted. Very minor body work (i have a few small imperfections), the bottoms of the tonneu, trunk lid, and hood. the ground effects would be off so that would get painted separately too. bu then he was going to wet sand out the orange peel. the work he does is very impressive and may very well be worth his asking price, but as stated i couldn't justify $12k to cry with the first rock chip.
might be workable - depends on a few things though. hit me up if you want, but it'll be a while before i'm ready for it. i do have a cobra that may need a stock white paint job in the near future though depending on your location in FL, cost, and how long it takes to complete.
P makes some nice covers. after you last post i contacted her and discovered she lives in my neck of the woods (about 30 minutes to the west), i talked to her about the covers for my vert, and mine will have one more stop after i get them from her (again not in the immediate future). my Uncle and cousin are leather-smiths. so i will send the covers to them to have them stamp the "Camaro" in the covers to complete the factory look. i also talks to her about redoing the covers in my Cobra. ironically she said she hasn't gotten any Mustangs, so she'll be using my covers as templates.

Ahh jealous of your camaro stamps lol! Her prices are really good man. I can't wait to test the quality, fit, finish of the covers.

Re: I'm in trouble... 92 Z03 Z28 Vert
I had gotten a hole punched in my back window by a hail stone, so I went and bought some heavy clear vinyl from fabric store and picked up some clear PVC cement from a hardware store. I made a double patch (same size to cover the hole) and glued one patch on the inside of the window and the other on the outside in the same position as the inside. I did this about 3 months ago. I'm using my Camaro as a daily driver and have had no problems with the patch coming loose or leaking. I think that as long as you have vinyl all the way around to glue to it should be fine. This is a temporary fix for me as I'll be installing a new top in the spring, but I feel that this patch will last until then.

Re: I'm in trouble... 92 Z03 Z28 Vert
well when i got my car the top had been left down under the cover for at least 3 years and since my dad got it as a surprise i wasn't able to see it before hand and when he got it to our shop we put a battery in it put the top up and to our (quote) "surprise" (not me really kind of figured this after talking to the original owner) the back window was broke in half and all browned out and the top isn't in really good condition so after a couple of weeks i went ahead and cut it out made it look better though any ideas on what i can do till hopefully at least February

I finally got the seat covers in, and man does it change how the interior looks. Not completely happy with them as a whole, but some of the things I'm not as happy with is partially may fault.
I will be taking some pics and will post them later today

Re: I'm in trouble... 92 Z03 Z28 Vert
Ok I got some pics snapped...

So my seat foams were in tough shape and were squished in pretty good. Covergirl told me a trick using steam that will pump them back up to near original shape... Holy crap does that work. Its like bread rising when you spray the steam directly into the foam.
Not sure you can see from the pics, but here they are... the left side steamed, right side not.

Those look great. I've also been told that you can use a steamer to get some of the wrinkles out. Either way, nice job.

I might try hitting it with it and see. My guess is that the steam swelled the foams through the covers, which was already done. I don't know lol

WOW ! Badnblk - what a find and a fine resto job.
It took me two nights to read all 7 pages thus far -
I am hoping to come across something like this in this area (Z28 Vert), not often you find a gem parked under a tree. Don't sell it if you can avoid it - these verts are hard to come by. I've been looking.
Thanks for the tip with the brake cleaner and shaving cream !
There are a few RS Verts near by -but not many Zs.
Whats the difference between a Z28 and an RS ? Last camaro I had was a 69.
Is it like a Trans am vs Formula ? or GTA vs Trans am ?

Well I had the chance the get the vert out over the weekend, and was really bummed to find that my dash pad cracked badly in the center... Guess it didn't like the -10 then few days later 65 degrees
So another piece back on the to-do list. Not much to update on it... which bums me out.

Re: I'm in trouble... 92 Z03 Z28 Vert
it is for that very reason i cannot justify buying new dash pads. i have paid some good money for clean ones and the first time florida does it's 20 degrees in the morning and 70 in the afternoon routine for a week, cracked it goes. wanted to make a fibre glass dash pad that could get painted to match the color of the car (a tribute and something different that was phased out from the cars of the 50's), but never got that far. really wish these things we not as weak as they are...

Yeah I hear you on that. Pissed me right off. I have had one crack on each 3rd gen I have driven, so hopefully that is all done now. I'm not sure what I will do next. I have a mint dash in the 91, and I'm thinking about taking it out and putting it in this. Then take the cracked one and have it wrapped in real Carbon Fiber...? Sounds cool, but big waste of money if I don't like it, and I need to buy a 12 bolt or 9 inch for the 91 too.... effing cars! LOL

Re: I'm in trouble... 92 Z03 Z28 Vert
There was a guy on here that was making carbon fibre parts. He had made a front grille that looked great, but when the orders started coming in he filled 2-3 of them and left the rest hanging for about 6-9 months before refund were issued. He had hinted at making a carbon fibre (by the way I hate spell check for correcting the way I spell fibre .... Yes I spell it the UK way, but s[ell check thinks its smarter than me.... OK quasi rant over) dash pad, which would have been awesome and well worth the $400-600 price tag. I've heard of people having issues by just coating their dash [ads in fiberglass, so I was going to just make a mold out of a bad dash pad I have laying around, and the make fiberglass one for mine. Still though I'd love to see some aftermarket ones come out in a better less weak material than the factory foam faux leather plastic. That would be an investment I'd make.
Yeah I have seen guys having problems with fiberglass, but I gotta think CF overlay shouldn't be a problem since it is such a stronger material. I found a place that will cover anything in CF, but still will be at least $400. I was gonna do my t-tops in the real stuff instead of 1080 scotchprint on there now.

Dont feel bad, I have not touched my car since November, been back and forth to NJ a dozen times, ended up having to knock our house down due to the extensive flood and wind damage.

Great job so far!!!!
