Help! Can I ad more cloth to new convertible top?

Have 1970 Chevelle convertible and am replacing the top with cloth (stay-fast), not vinyl. Have installed new frame too. My installer has tried 2 different tops (one I bought and one he bought) and he says both are too small in length, not width, but yet the measurements on the new frame match the old frame's. The supplier who I bought the top from says this top should fit my frame. Since I feel the top lacks enough length (needs no more than 1-2")in the back (window panel) can I have a small piece of some type of stong fabic much like the top added to make up the difference to make this top fit? Installer does not want to do fool with trying it. I just need to make this new top fit if possible. Thanks

Without sounding snippy I hope, I don't think that you are going to get much input about the top on a Chevelle out of a 3rd Gen Camaro Covert forum.

Just an opinon though, adding a piece into a vert top does not seem like an ideal solution. My guess would be either the frame is not the right one or is not adjusted right. A good top installer should be able to put a top on a Chevelle and adjust the frame.
