Re: What is it?
Vin number is on the dash at the base of the windshield on the drivers side. It should also be on your title and registration.
Also check your codes that are on the inside of the console glovebox

How on earth did the rig get a salvage title without a VIN?
Without a VIN and having a salvage title, how are you going to plate it?

Re: What is it?
Good idea 92..here's the link...http://tecius.com/vin/
I asked for pictures as there is no info on make or model and you were looking for help to verify the Vin. Could be on the door jamb, under the dash pad, on some of the panels, etc. If you are looking for help, too much info is better than not enough.
Re: What is it?
That link didnt work, everything on the doors is either worn or torn off, the only reason im really asking in the first place is becuase i dont want to put iroc or z28 badges on a car that isnt, suppose it doesnt matter to much but...

Check and see if the door sticker says use 245 tires. If so probably iroc. If it has fog lights probably iroc. TPI probably iroc. 9 bolt rear " ". 140 speedo " ".
Re: What is it?
Did you check inside the console for the sticker with all the RPO codes? If you look underneath your car, you might find a sticker on the rear bumper with the VIN. You got a t5 trans? the VIN is stamped on the housing (mine is).

Where did the insurance co. get the VIN? Who told them what the VIN was?
Don't know where you are located but most states you have to jump thru a lot of hoops to clear a salvage title. In Illinois you have to clear the salvage part to register it. Sounds like you have a "Car of many parts". Make it what ever you want.
Re: What is it?
I was told they make up a VIN if the car has a salvage title, the VIN they made up is an IROC though, but you are right I might aswell just put whatever parts/badges I want on there, its already got mixed parts

Check with your DMV, Most states issue salvage titles to autos that are totaled. Hence, cost more to fix than it is worth. You cannot register it or plate it.
To clear a salvage title, the auto must be rebuilt to safety standards set by the state and completed by a licensed auto rebuilder (not your back yard) then taken to a state imspection station to re-certified and registered. Then you will receive a rebuilt title from the state.
Check everything before you start pouring money into it. You may have a parts car on your hands....

It is a complete running car, i believe it still does have a salvage title, i dont know how all the registering did as i didnt do it myself, it is licensed though as i do drive it everyday lol
