Re: replacement rear plastic window

well it was on CL last week for sale/trade. Said it had all new interior and all it needed was motor and tranny! It was $6000 or possible trade for another project - ad said and I quote "just testing the waters". I have an app on my phone that searches every CL ad that pops up daily in St. Louis.
There was an 88 complete IROC (factory silver t-top 350) running in Barnhart, MO for $1200 a few weeks ago. I knew that car and even had factory Bose system - wrecked front end. I think that was a deal.

Well, please share your info. My plastic rear window is cracked, and I have no desire to replace the top.

Re: replacement rear plastic window

It is possible to order a new window from an upholstery shop, but installing it would be the hard part. From what I was told, the top needs to be removed so that the new plastic window can be sewn in. If you are going to to go through the trouble of removing your top and re-installing, might as well go with a new top with glass window.

That was also my understanding and believe me if that top is coming off a new one is going on.

Re: replacement rear plastic window

I had an auto upholstery shop sew in a new window. It lasted much longer than the original since I learned my lesson about keeping the window out of the UV exposure as much as possible by using an interior cover (when parked with the top down) or a car cover the remainder of the time when parked. It is now in bad need of replacement, but the entire top now needs to be replaced too (24 years old).
