making offer on 1990 Iroc Vert
came across a 1990 iroc Z convertible. 90k miles on the clock. Automatic. body looks great. its bright red with grey interior, 99 Camaro cloth seats. power options. needs rear window replaced (new top in my book) slight paint touch up.
im trying to get an idea of what to offer them for it, they didn't have an asking price set and had it open to best offer. they think it has a L98 in it but I haven't got the vin to check for myself yet. im thinking 305, but really doesn't make a difference in the end to me.
should I be offering 3-5k? 4-6k? I know its hard to tell without seeing it. but ive been out of the 3rd gen verts for a little while now, not sure what the market is looking like on them.
thanks

Re: making offer on 1990 Iroc Vert
5K is in the neighborhood for good condition, try to haggle, I paid 2500 for mine, has 174Kmiles, needs paint, rear tires a many other repairs.
The good thing is 90 Iroc verts are low mfg numbers ... something like only 365 made that year cause Iroc contract ran out on 12/31/89, so they could only squeeze out a few, therefore rare and worth getting a hold of.
Good luck. Oh yea, it has a 305. (F=8th digit in vin)
Do carfax, may give you some negotiating power if accidents.

Re: making offer on 1990 Iroc Vert
Nice man. I had the opportunity to buy one from a friend years ago, and totally regret not making it happen then.
As for making an offer, I ALWAYS ask what a seller would they would like out of it. I have been pleasantly surprised many times, and may keep you from offering too much. You can always work down considering condition any operation. This is especially good if you know the seller, to keep you from throwing out a "low ball" offer, that might hurt a friendship. I have two pockets full of twenty dollar bills (looks like more money). One with what I would like to pay (the low ball offer?), and the other to work up with. Remember cash is king and people will typically settle on a lower number with a pile of money staring them in the face... less hassle of showing it, listing, etc.

Re: making offer on 1990 Iroc Vert
I guess the guy doesn't want to sell it, but the wife wants the money. didn't have an asking price in mind so I asked if somewhere around 4 grand would do it and he said for that he would keep it. so then I asked if closer to 5k. said he would do 5k as is. but now I don't really feel like 5k is a great deal. I wanted to have room to improve the car and still come out ahead when I sell it. that's my goal is to flip something for some extra cash. paying 5g doesn't seem to leave me much room to make any money. I'm still searching for a 1990-1992 Z28 on the cheap. not too much out there that's not junk or the seller isn't on crack. ive low balled a few people just seeing what happens, so far no bites.

Keep looking, if you want a cheap vert, be prepared to do some work.
I'd say 5K is running really good, no issues, and no dents/scratches, interior pretty good shape.
Might be some room in this one

i would say 5k is about right for a 90 iroc vert for a fair condition one. an excellent condition 90 iroc can go for a good amount. Low mile 90 iroc verts, I have seen go for 15-25k now a days.

I think that looks better that you described. I think for the $4700 you were talking you get a pretty good deal. I like it! Is it grey leather or Black cloth? Start you thread soon man.
Side note. How does you TBSS do dragging a trailer with a Camaro on it? I have been keeping my eyes out for one.

Re: making offer on 1990 Iroc Vert
all the red cars ive owned have been very photogenic, they look much better on the computer. its not horrible but it needs a good bit of work. im happy with the purchase. and I didn't buy it for 4700
the TBSS is my work truck. I pull a 18' enclosed car hauler daily, full of chips, pretzels and crackers. it would be too much weight with a car in it. but the uhaul car trailer with the Camaro on it was great. I got 14.4 mpg on the way with an empty trailer, and the same with the car on it on the way back 260 miles each way. my enclosed trailer is more like 10 mpg if im lucky on the highway with nothing in it. too much wind resistance.
