Sad Sight - 87 Z28 (non-IROC) Convertible In Boneyard
1987 Z28, non-B4Z. Had a small engine fire, and must have been totaled by the insurance company. Odometer sad 18K, I would guess it to be 218K, as there is extensive rust around the windshield and on the decklid. RPO T96 makes this the first 85-87 non-IROC that I have ever seen that has fogs.
I pulled a bunch of stuff, to keep as spare for my red RS. I could not get the front belts because I did not have a large enough hex bit (even though I brought my 80 pack of odd bits
), and the trunklid had a bunch of rust; so much so that I left it with the car.

Last one for now. I have never ripped my carpet out to reveal the custom mods that ASC did to these poor cars. This it the passenger side, looking at the rear of the car from near the passenger side, with no tonneau or trunklid. I think the grey sheetmetal in the middle is some sort of aluminum soffit. It reminds me of the stuff we used to sell at a hardware store I worked at 20 years ago. No rust on any of it.

Posting for the first time in over five years (at least). Scott, are you out there? Most of you newcomers don't know me but I used to moderate both the Convertible and History forums here. I KNOW my third gens since I was buying them new in the 80s.
I own probably the rarest regular production third gen Camaro ever produced. A 1987 Z28 convertible with a 305 TPI / 5-speed. I bought it off the original owner in 1994. It is fully optioned (RPO 1SC) and yes, it has fog lamps. I have the original window sticker. The only option is does not have is a power antenna.
Enough for now.

Man I think you need to go back and grab those spears on the door tops that meet the rear of the doors.
Those are really rare from what I have seen, and I know there is other members looking for those in addition to the map pockets. Might be a chance to help another member and make a buck or two.

They should be saved if possible. They look pretty straight and the rust can be cut out and repaired. But they are verts and rare verts at that and a strong effort by a thirdgen member in the area should be made to purchase them and get the rest of us to find parts to help restore them.

As far as the door spears, or whatever they are called, they are apparently not that desireable. I cant get $130 for the set that I yanked off of the car featured in the first post in this thread.
If you don't mind sitting on your parts for a while, it's probably worthwhile to stock up on the rare parts when you see them. If you are looking to turn a quick buck, it's likely not gonna happen, even with the "rare" vert parts.

Of course I know how rare it is. That's why I started a thread about it. The car is long gone now. I was just at the yard earlier this week.

Re: Sad Sight - 87 Z28 (non-IROC) Convertible In Boneyard
Back when I was bone yarding I have ended up with three console clocks, three overhead consoles (one hardtop) and some bose stuff. Didn't pay a lot for it and have done some swapping with some other stuff for some brake bolts, interior screws etc. I used to have a complete 92 Bose system in black but someone stole it, my pancake compressor and some other stuff.
