Baby got a new top. She had the original top since 1990. The original top was in great shape for being over 20 years old but the plastic window was bad. The plastic window was faded and yellow even though the car has been garaged for all of its life. In any case, the new top is awesome with a glass window! feels great to see from my rear view mirror now!

Did you do it or professional install

It is hard to get the crease out of the left hand side at the window. He did a great job.

Yeah that is the reason I asked the creases are virtually non existent on his install. Still haven't figured out how to get rid of them.Originally Posted by yankeecarman

Discovered why there are no creases in the top...the top material is stretched to the limit when it is latched into the body. In fact, I struggled for almost 30 minutes before I could put the top back up! I am not sure if the fabric needs more time to stretch? The install guy did say that I should keep the top up for for about a week, but I just played it off...lol. If I still have issues by the end of the week, I will need to take it back to the shop. Installed a top on a friends mustang a while back. The top does need to remain up for at least a week. This allows the fabric the stretch and the glues to fully cure. Believe it or not it will stretch and it does take time. My friends mustang took almost 3 months out in the sun before it stretched enough he didn't feel like he was forcing it down. We've had to adjust (Tighten the latches) a couple of times since then because the fabric has stretched. I guess the moral of this is it will stretch. I looks like a very clean job done by someone who knew what they were doing, just trust it will stretch and try not to put it down until that week is up.Originally Posted by Mr. IROC-Z

I don't recall what brand TOP it is. I just had the shop order the best model that matched the look of the old top but available with the glass window. Interestingly enough, there are two different sizes of tops for cars from 1988-89 and 91-92.Originally Posted by 86gn

Yes, those are Aerocatch hood pins.Originally Posted by zenish

The springs are 'custom cut' from Global West. The fronts are rated at 900lbs and the rear at 160lbs. It sits on Koni Yellow shocks. I have the stock A-Arms. The entire suspension has been rebuilt with Moog, and aftermarket parts.Originally Posted by gpasare

Well it looks GREAT on your car and Im going to be needing one myself. If ya get time and don't mind calling the shop that would be great. I THINK the differences in the tops between the years is ones with and without the headliners

That top looks great. My top is almost to the point of needing replacement and I'm pretty sure that I want a glass window. I'm just not sure how that would work out as my top seems to fold in the middle of the plastic window. Is the glass window positioned differently or is it smaller? That top really does look good. Any other info you can give on it would be a big help. Thanks!
