87 Convertible Spare Tire?

I have searched the entire 3rd Gen site and found only a little info on this and I'm not sure I trust what I found so far. Apparently (as expected) the convertible stuff was different than the coupe and from what I can tell the main difference is that convertibles came with an inflatable spare instead of a solid donut spare in order to save space in the storage well. I have an 87 coupe and and 87 convertible and I can clearly see that the hinges for the deck lid on the convertible (these don't exist on coupes) encroach into the storage well and it looks like this is the reason for the smaller spare?

Can someone who has ALL THE ORIGINAL 1987 CONVERTIBLE or identical spare tire, jack and associated tools and etc please send me a pic of all the CORRECT parts. I have a jack and an inflatable spare (no C02 can tho). I think I have all the correct stuff but I am not 100% sure as I got some of it from a junk yard.

Thanks!

My 87 Formula LG4 had an inflatable spare... Unfortunately I removed it for a subwoofer... Although it seems unwise to do so, I have over sized 12" Baer brakes which my spare tire would not fit over... so it was pointless to have anyways.

Re: 87 Convertible Spare Tire?

Funny this thread should come up. My car is currently sitting on the spare - the inflatable spare.

I can grab a pic of this perhaps later today. There is a wrench and something to hold the whole thing to the inside of the quarter panel

Pix would be great. Thanks. Is yours a convertible? I see your profile pic includes a car but it looks to be a coupe.

I am 99.9% sure the convertibles same with the inflatable spare and not the solid donut and therefore would have come with a C02 canister. But what I don't know is what other tools came with it. I've seen a ratchet that seems to work with a separate long tube type of socket and Ive seen a ratchet that looks to have that same "socket" integrated into the ratchet tool. And I don't know how to configure it when stowing it all in the spare tire well. Any clues would be great. Thx

Re: 87 Convertible Spare Tire?

Yea, mine is a coupe - well t-top, but being its a GTA is probably why it has the inflatable. I am not sure in my mind ATM of how its configured, I don't have stock wheel and also do not have stock lugs so i didnt use that stuff when I put the spare on, and i also carry an assortment of tools in the storage compartment which make them unnecessary.
