I know my 89 has the original windshield and trim, I will have to measure it...
5/16" (0.31") = 7.938 mm
7/16" (0.44") = 11.208 mm

Re: I'm not getting in trouble anymore... I got a 91 Z28 convertible
So I have been slowly working on my idea, my crazy plan to "fix" the rear vinyl window....
As you can see its got cracks on the passenger side crudely taped up with packaging tape.

So I removed the packaging tape which was PITA without causing more damage or scratching up the vinyl. I used brake cleaner to remove the residue with no discoloration FYI. I grabbed my trusty PorterCable RO polisher and cutting pad with a light polish and went to work on the outside and the inside of the window. This really cleared up the haze, but obviously didn't solve the problem of keeping the elements out.
My idea... Originally my plan was to use clear bra film over the inside and outside of the vinyl. My window tint lady suggested otherwise as its not as optically clear as you would think, so she said I have some scraps of Optic Armor lens/glass protection. Its clearer, and the film is thicker 2ml (clear), and 3ml 35% tinted.
So I cut out a pattern of the window, made a cardboard template as to give me something to push against. I layed the clear on the inside as a first step, then chose to use the tinted film on the outside as it hides the cracks and makes the whole "repair" less noticable.
Here is installed pics. I need to work out the rest of the bubbles, but it was 6:30am and needed to get into work, so Finished pics will be coming.

Clever...
I used to have a roll of the window material laying around my shop, I do not know why a good upholstery shop could not sew a new window in... I know they want to just sell you another top.
The crux might be that the time required to remove the top, cut and sew a new window in might be about the same as just replacing the entire top, at which point you would have an old top with a new window, and paid for labor instead of new material...
Last time I checked it was about $900 for the top AND installation at the local Upholstery place.

I thought it was clever. Maybe more out of necessity as I can't afford to put a new top on this car. Would have been nice if the windows zipped in or something, but top manufactures wouldn't be able to sell as many lol.

Put some miles on it today and took it for its CO state emissions test... PASSED!!!!

Has a clunk in the front end over severe bumps/cracks in the road. I think the strut mounts are blown out, so I'm gonna swap those with a known good set I have hanging around, and throw some new struts on and see where we stand after that.
I think I'm getting close enough to make a 4 sale add on it...

Reeaaally amazing what you have done, the only thing I noticed in the pictures is the poor paint used by ASC on the tonneau...
I do have to ask (because I noticed it) the drivers seat headrest, it looks set back for some reason... It might not be, but it just stuck out at me.

Thanks brotha!
Yeah the tonneau paint sucks... The drivers seat head rest is in the only position it can go in, and I sat back and said the same thing, and pulled it back out and re-installed. Only thing I can think it that foam being plumped from the steam makes it looks further back as its puffyier than passenger seat?

Re: I'm not getting in trouble anymore... I got a 91 Z28 convertible
Well I sold it today. Had one of my old neighbors/friends want to look at before I listed it, and he made me an offer I could resist. I don't have to try and fix anything else up or anything, so worked really well for me.
No more updates, unless I snap a pic with the new owner.
