Looking for the impossible?
Looking for the impossible?
My dad and mom have a 1988 z28 convertible and they are not getting any younger. They sometimes struggle getting the top up and down on their car.
Does anyone know of a way or a company that has put a power operated top on this generation of Camaro?
Thanks for your input!

No. You are just going to have to help them out with it.

Re: Looking for the impossible?
It sounds like something may be broken, The top should almost fold down with one hand once the tonneau is raised. Mine is pretty balanced, Lon might know what it could be, I know there are cables and stuff in the top...
Re: Looking for the impossible?
Operating nice and smooth I just think they would like to operate from inside the car like I am able to do with my 99 Camaro. Was wondering if it was optioned that way on some rigs or if there was someone who could stick in a motor and a button with a couple fabricated parts and make it so for them.

With the way the top and tonneau operate, you would have to do a LOT or reenginering to make that work like a 4th gen.

Re: Looking for the impossible?
I just do not believe there is the room for a power top in a 3rd gen... PLUS it would have added weight to the car, and at this point it was already so heavy they had to put restrictions on the engines they installed... If it was not a problem of the EPA I bet there would be tones of 350 convertibles out there...

Re: Looking for the impossible?
I think I have your solution. Trade your '99 to your parents for their '88. Problem solved.
