@Helosixx I don't know what kind of spiffing up under the hood you plan to do but a new coolant overflow tank and washer fluid tank would spiff it up nice. Swapping the 89 down style driver side valve cover for a 90 up style valve cover would help with oil changes too. It puts the oil fill at the front and the PCV valve at the rear.

Great idea, will look into that. It's not had much use and the tires while still plenty of tread where a little hard. Switiched them out this morning... the date code on the old set was 110 (that 11th week of 90') =)
I've attached another image of the frame brace from behind the front wheel. Really cool work for sure.
Just picked up an 89' RS Convertible.
When you look up the vin it says it started life as a Iroc Z. It has the ASC label on the driver's door and was finished in February of 89'
My vin is: 1G1FP31E5KL159673.
The 6th digit is a 3, so is it an 87' that was an anniversary year and wasn't finished until 89'?

Nice, that would be a "Factory" conversion. Made same place, same process, the 3 indicates a "Convertible" The Conversions show a 2 for "Coupe" Years are as follows
G = 1986
H = 1987
J = 1988
K = 1989

Interesting! My 1989 IROC Z LB9 , 305TPI had the oil fill cap, on the Right (passenger) side, somewhat blocked by hoses, and whatnot. And the PCV on the Left side. I assumed a mechanic did Valve Cover gaskets and put the covers back on the wrong side! So I installed new VC Gaskets and reversed the covers. Did the Factory build my 305 w/ the oil filler on the Right?

I'm really not sure. My car was an internal car at ASC so there is lots of custom stuff done. The engine I'm told was swapped from another test car they destroyed and is a balanced and blueprinted Traco 5.7L race motor. One of the higher ups was authorizing the work which had no possible ROI.
Should be pretty easy to look up past sales of 89' Irocs and compare the engine photos posted to your setup.
I have Ferrari's, Porsche's and Vettes... keep in mind it doesn't matter who builds the car, when the assemble line runs low on parts they will use whatever they car get their hands on to keep production going. Very normal for a few cars in a production series to have different parts, fasteners or whatever. Hope this helps.

I can't speak for the 86 and earlier TPI F-body cars, but I think the oil fill has always been on the (left) driver's side of the car. Barring some "race cars" GM got smart and put the oil fill cap in the front with the PCV in the back on the (left) driver's side, and the CCV on the front (right) passenger's side starting in 1990.
The 1990+ setup is the way it always should have been for TPI cars. Oil fill cap up front and out of the way of everything.
