Have a 87 vert and having problems with the switch. I have power to the relay under the console and hear the relay clicking when I engage the switch. However, no power past the switch to the solenoids. Could it be the relay or think there's a break in the wire from the relay back to the solenoids?
Also, the white trunk switch has two leads connected to it but no power to each of those either. Any help would be great..thx!
Did you check to see that there is 12V on the other side of the relay contact? If so, the relay may have gone bad. A standard auto parts store 12V relay can be wired up as a replacement.

Can you post a pic of the relay? I am having issues with mine but I don't think I am getting power to the relay. I don't know where the power should be coming from.

Bob, I removed the housing around my shifter and was able to get to the switch. The relay is also there connected to it. Test power going into the relay first. Might be the fuse which on mine is connected with my horn.
OK back with my second question. Can someone please tell me what should be on the bottom compartment? It just looks like something is missing to me.
Rear window defofogger but being that you have a vert, no need..lol. My car has a ASC plaquard I assume because that company did the conversion. I will send it shortly.
Funny with mine the power is coming from the fuse panel which btw, is also

I took the console off and got to the relay. I checked the ground and it is good, There is power across the ground and the orange wire when i turn the key on. I know the e-brake must be on and the car in park to make the system work. When engaged, should there be power across the brown wire and the ground? The e-brake switch seems to work as the light on the dash works. The car won't start if not in park. Below is a pick of the back of the plug into the relay.

I posted this in another thread but since we talked on the phone I wanted to post this. With the ignition off I removed the plastic cover on the relay and manually operated the contactor on top of the relay and Bam the tanaeu popped!. How did it bypass the switch that is in line? There are those safety's on the e-brake and shifter it bypassed also. Also I know now the solenoids work and do have constant, from battery power to them.
This leads me to ask a question...I have a slam lock trunk. From my research I can't find a switch on the slam lock like on the power pull down? Is there supposed to be on a slam lock? I would assume so as the trunk should not open if the tanaeu is.
My 89 has the white plastic plunger on the motorized pull-down setup to prevent the tonneau from opening when the trunk is open.
The tonneau solenoids have a solid ground (their metal housing) bolted to the car body. They only get a burst of +12V from the relay to open the tonneau.
The relay is triggered by a ground input from the tonneau console switch to the relay.
I am not sure if the interlocks are on the positive or negative to the relay.

Mines Not! I have a slam lock and there is no switch hooked to it. I spoke with Lon and he said that ASC converted to a slam lock. Are any of you guys familiar with this system? Have any pics of a working 91 slam lock? I below is pics of mine. There is a light for the trunk so I assume the 2 wire conector hooked up is the power for that. I foumd that open connector laying on the there, power pulldown connector? Also I put a pic of the tapped connector. Do you guys have that?
Tootie, do you have a pic of the solenoids? if not how many and what color wires go into it?
I imagine a slam lock release solenoid would work the same as would the tonneau release interlock switch. Here are the two diagrams. My tonneau release solenoid only needed a ground to trigger so I suspect my car is wired for the lower diagram. It also has the hatch pull down mechanism. These two diagrams seem to be for different types of trunk/hatch latch types. As I understand it, the convertibles used the hatch/trunk release circuit for the tonneau.

I got it to work!!! Thanks to the above schematic,,,Tootie you are the man!
I had no power coming into the release switch on the orange wire. I traced it back as far as I could but short of ripping out the interior I could not see where it went. I ran a new wire from a constant power I found in the trunk wiring. Put an inline fuse where I know it is(still never found the fuse this system works off)and ran the wire through the existing loom to the switch with the original wires. I am going to go to HD today and get a spade connector to modify so it clips onto the switch. I don't want to cut the original connector off as someday I will replace the carpet so maybe then I will find where the orange wire originates.
The only thing different on my car was the yellow wire lockout was an orange wire into the relay. This schematic is the one for 91.5 and later with the slam lock trunk.
