Hava an 89 IROC conv..the front seat backs dont lock, should they??

 

Probably not. I think that they are meant to stay loose without any secondary latch to allow access to the rear seat. When you decellerate quickly, they should hook up and not allow the seat to go forward. That is how my 91 TA works.

I've wonderd this myself... my car is the same way.

Very odd however that they have a "release lever".... which does nothing lol
