Due to a car fire I recently lost my 89 Camaro Convertible, I've owned this car since 1992. I took really good care of her and it broke my heart when I lost her. I didn"t have it insured for a appraised amount just had full coverage on it. My car has 160,000 plus miles on it ,the car ran great, no issues with anything, upgraded stereo , rims and tires, new carpet and newer convertible top, paint was a 20 footer with no rust ever. My insurance has offered me $5500.00. I can appeal this offer and get an outside appraisal done. I'm looking for other members opinions and thoughts on what direction I should take.

I’m sorry to hear this.
My 87 IROC 5-speed g92 that I bought in high school was rear ended by a guy on his phone in 2001. That car had a lot of money into it and was fast and looked factory showroom brand new.
Insurance company offered me $2500. They said ‘It’s an 87 Camaro, we went off book value.’
I called them and told them it was a car I built and showed and that it was a rare car. I told them $2500 was not gonna do it..
an adjuster came out and I showed him the flawless paint, the mint interior, the spotless engine, and all the receipts.
He was really bummed and thought it was a shame what happened to the car. It was hit hard in the rear..
He gave me $7000 which in 2001 was a lot for that car. That’s what I bought the car for in 1994 with 26k miles.
I think you can do better than $5500 if you talk to the right people. Insurance always tries to lowball you and hope you’ll just go away.. get a good adjuster, get receipts, and some facts about how third gen values are increasing! You can prove your case!
