89 V6 2.8L Camaro Power Loss

Every now and then when i stomp on the throttle to have some fun, my Camaro starts going and then just drops right off, when i pump the gas peadal in nutral she comes back to life but for the life of me i cant figure out why. a little help would be much appreciated.

does it do it as certain temps? cool or hot? Does it happen when you apply the gas suddenly or when you apply it smoothly? And specific RPM?

only when hot and when i stomp on it and only in 1st gear its really screwed up and its about 3500-4000 rpm area when it just dies on me , im thinking vacume hose, but not sure, any other ideas are welcome, tks.

Definatly check those vacuum hoses. They can work wonders I'll tell you. I had a bad vac hose and I could barely pull 105 MPH. After I fixed one tube, I got back my 130 MPH top speed! (Well, I have that 85 MPH speedo and I had it wrapped back around to 30.)

It could also be the timing. Over-advanced timing at low RPM would make the car act badly from a stop.

The same way you would any car, except for one thing. Instead of pulling the vaccume line off the distrubutor, you disconnect the EST (Electroning Spark Timing) wire. This is usually located on the passanger side by the computer. I think it is brown/tan or tan/black. Then time it just like you would on a good ol' carborated engine.
