92 Camaro - TPI - EGR Replaced, LOSS of power??

I failed aircare. Went to regular mechanic I normally go to. They hooked car to computer and the EGR valve needed replacing. Replaced it, now the car has NO POWER. When you floor it, it CASUALLY picks up speed rather than ROCKETING forward while driving..

Is this NORMAL while the computer adjusts for the new EGR???

UPDATE: Called mechanic and they said they disconnected the cruise control because on the road test, they found the car MYSTERIOUSLY REVVED all my itself and the brakes held the car from jetting forward.

They disconnected the cruise and it stopped.

HOWEVER, Cruise control WORKS..?? So I called them just now and they said then something ELSE was disonnected by mistake.

QUESTIONS:

1. WHAT would be near the cruise control plug that may cause this LOSS of power at WOT?

2. WHAT would they have disconnected instead of the cruise that would cause this?

3. What would be the cause of the mysterious REV?

Well their should only be the 3 cables there so by process of elimination its the TV cable they unplugged.

hahaha that sounds funny TV cable... call the cable guy har har

Anyways unless they hooked the cruise back up it was the TV cable that was unhooked which would cause shifting at wrong times no downshifts and cook your trans pretty fast.

Pop my hood and where would I look? Which cable?

Is the cruise control (cable?) near this cable?

IIRC you had a thread a few months back about some repairs you had done to a 700R4 trans, if that is still the same trans in there (700R4) its a throttle valve cable. unlike the earlier th350/400s It controls line pressures in the trans and if not hooked up or even slightly out of adjustment can cause a tranny to burn up in a hurry!

Glad you found the problem though!

If I were you I would have a major problem with them giving you the car with the TV cable disconnected and watching you drive away. As mentioned this can really screw up the transmission fast. It should not be driven like that, even if it was only a few miles, and especially if you went WOT its not good. If your tranny starts to fail within the next few months you know who to go talk to. If I were you I would call them back and have them document that this happened incase the tranny fails within a reasonable timeframe. I would also smell the ATF fluid from the dipstick tube to see if it smells burnt and replace the fluid if it does smell burnt.
